As a fan of "Father Ted", I quite enjoyed watching the programme about the series the other evening.. former cast members re-visited the house and various locations featured in the series and spoke about how the show was conceived and put together.
I was a little disappointed that what's her name who played "Mrs Doyle" decided not to appear as she didn't want endanger her career through any unnecessary association with her former character.. Rolling Eyes
Nice to see "Father Jack" as his normal self by the way.. he seems to be a nice fellow really!

But.. the thing that bugged me was, as the scriptwriters arrived in the town where the show was filmed, they commented on the blue Ford car which awaited them with words similar to " Is that the car? Ted's car.. that's the one?"
They then drove to the various locations in the car.

Well, Father Ted's car was a Ford... it was blue too, but oh dear... it was a Cortina - not a Granada!!
How could they make this mistake? did they think nobody would notice?

Still, good programme... where's my Anorak... Laughing

I didn't notice the Cortina mistake because I can't stand Father Ted and always turn it off

I even once walked out of a party because the hosts refused to turn it off

It's just incredibly irritating in my view and perhaps it might have been better had Dave Allen been around at the time rather than some of the mediocre cast involved as I'm sure he would have improved the humour levels

I remember Mrs SFF saying that I should watch father Ted when it first came out. Once I heard it was about an Irish Priest, I immediately wrote it off but, I watched one episode many months later and was hooked!
For me, it isn't far behind Fawlty Towers!
I've probably seen it a few times too many now but it still appeals to me. It's hard to describe, but some of the scenes were surreal and very funny.. particularly scenes involving Mrs Doyle.. Laughing
Such a shame he died so young..

Dave Allen? possibly but I liked the cast as they had it..

Santa - you and I must have the same predelection for silliness on TV because although I caught up with it late (ie: not on first run) I did come to laugh aloud many times at each daft predicament they got themselves into.

Dave Allen as Father Ted? No, no, no................ He was a great stand up comic but would never have fitted this role had he been alive to undertake it.

I loved Father Ted ..it was bonkers.....Laughing ...I don't think Ardal O'Hanlon could ever top his performance in that....pity about Pauline McLynn being sniffy about appearing in the programme ..which I missed... Twisted Evil

Pauline McLynn explained on This Morning that she had been working on Shameless at the time the Father Ted documentary was planned.

It was strange seeing the actor who portrayed Damo looking older!
