Police are looking for people who damaged the Royal Car which Prince Charles and Camilla were travelling in during the protests in London last year. As pictures on Sky News show metal bins were thrown at the vechicle whilst it was travelling through Regents Street. To me it looks like it was travelling very slow. We could have had a royal funeral instead of a wedding. It's a serious breach of Royal security for a long time.

It wasn't that long a time - a few minutes at most.

Not so simple answer... bring back law and order to this country! these low life would have more than likely attacked a funeral car or ambulance if they thought they could get away with it... lock 'em up - for a long time!
Unbelievable, completely unacceptable behaviour...

Are we to assume that the same amount of police time and resources go into investigating more serious crimes on "less important" people? What a waste of taxpayers money. They drove through a protest! What the heck did they expect.

And Mark, please dial down the sensationalism. If there were to be any funerals it would have been of the protestors, not the old gits in the back of the car.

and therein lays one of the problems of living today.. occupants of a Royal car should "expect" to be attacked by idiotic youths because they think they can get away with it..
Demonstration or not, would any normal person dare to go any where near such a car, let alone threaten the passengers, without serious results? people like this are out of control.. control requires discipline.
Royalist or not, this should be regarded as an outrage and an insult to the population of this country.

It's mixture of lack of judgement, and police can't control youths.

I sure as heck wouldn't take my car anywhere near protesters if. When the G8 summit was up at Gleneagles, there was a fair amount of rioting. I didn't drive at that point, but I wouldn't have taken it anywhere near the riots. It's sheer idiocy to drive through a bunch of angry (rightly so) protesters! Yes, it's not right that they were attacked. I don't see how it's an insult at all. A couple of people drove through a well publicised protest which had turned violent, their car was attacked. I'll ask again, if I had done that and my car had been smashed to pieces, would the police launch such an investigation? I rather doubt it. Ordinary people shouldn't expect any effort from their police. Rolling Eyes

I feel it's an insult to all decent minded people of the UK that a group of thugs have caused these disgraceful, and nationally embarrassing scenes to be shown around the world.. what must other nations think of it all?
and for me, it'll be a further insult if the youths involved are not heavily dealt with.

Of course the Police wouldn't mount an enquiry if the average car was vandalised or attacked during a riot but I would expect some follow up action if there were witnesses.

I may be "old school" but to mess with a member of the Royal Family in any way represents a serious crime and the penalty should be equally serious.. didn't these idiots think they might be seen as terrorists and shot?

I think they would have been in any other country, can you imagine the same thing happening to the US president? No! It would have been shoot first ask questions after, no messing.

It was Prince Charles who wanted to go to the Royal Performance, after warnings by Royal Protection. They also advised him to travel in a different car.

The Royals aren't known for their intelligence. It's all the in-breeding, you see.

There are a few cock up's here, No matter what Charles wanted to do the people in charge of their security should have had the final decision on which route and what car or even whether to go or not.

These Yoofs has been kettled and charged at by police horses all day, were they likely to react in the way they did yes, was it right no.

I hope the police learn how to deal with protesters better because their bosses are going to cause a few more over the next year.

I would tend to agree with Little pieces on this though outdated irrelevant bunch of arses , I'm not saying go the way of France or Russia but time they did the right thing and handed democracy to "their" people completely, they did it in Gladiator Wink
