I wanted to hear this because I'd read the books about her life and times.

It was interesting to hear Nina's original of 'Young, Gifted & Black'. You do wonder if she and her daughter benefited from royalties from the Bob & Marcia hit.

This was a very listenable hour's radio about a woman of many talents...there was a programme on Radio 4 a while back about Lorraine Hansberry ...she was the woman Nina Simone wrote the song Young Gifted and Black for.

Langston Hughes was also mentioned as a friend of hers ..some of his poems are favourites of mine

I love this song by her

Radio 2 messed up big time last night regarding part 2 of this documentary...

Someone on Digital Spy asked about it and I put this as a reply to them...

Did you get caught out?

I tuned in at 10pm for the documentary about Nina Simone and knew immediately that the programme was not as billed and it was the following programme which should have gone out at 11pm being aired.

It could be a computer fault, wrong programmes have aired on BBC7 in the past but I have equally heard a programme started after the news on Radio 2 and the same show being aired that was on earlier(the same on Radio 4)and it is obvious that someone in the studio is putting the programme on manually and they have corrected matters within seconds and had that been done it would not have messed the time allowed for each programme that follows...

I cannot understand if it was started by someone in the studio how they did not realise the error and correct it asap or were they not listening?

Maybe they thought it was lined up correctly and some one else is to blame(human error and all that)

I said to my Mum some one will find if they are not listening live they have a programme they were not expecting(as you found)or those tuning in for the Jazz programme would find the Nina Documentary instead.

In my case it was ok as I just waited for it to come around an hour later.

Hi Becky...

I hope they have for anyone using the I Player, I think the person who brought this up has said that he had been promised they were working on sorting it out so it's correct on the internet even if they messed up when the programme went out.

I had a similar problem when I wanted to listen to part one of the Roxy Music story on 6 Music. I got part two, but a lot of the early Roxy era was mentioned on Bryan Ferry's The First Time programme.

I got an apology of sorts from BBC6 Music(after e-mailing)as a number of times they would put out an episode of a documentary series and I'd specially wake up and tune in for the next episode the following morning and they were putting out the same one they had the previous night and at that time you had both a DJ and I assume a producer in the studio who either didn't care or they were not listening to what was being broadcast so it wasn't corrected and...I never heard an on air apology for the error.

I'm not sure Aviddiva but I think the BBC6 Music Roxy documentary is repeated on Radio 2 soon...so you may get another chance to hear part one which you missed.
