Roy Hudd returns to the station with a new sketch show called HQ starting on 8th January 2011.
Text below from the BBC Press Office:
HQ marks the return of Roy Hudd to BBC Radio 2, his radio comedy homeland. He is joined by The Blagger's Guide's David Quantick – in a unique pairing for this all-new, half-hour sketch show.
Join Roy and David as they romp through half an hour of epic silliness, inspired by everyday life, including the mundane, the exciting, the confusing, the amusing and the amazing things that make one glad to be alive.
With the magnificent support of Anita Dobson and Kevin Eldon, this deliciously daft new comedy is part of BBC Radio 2's continuing Comedy Showcase series.

Some of the original Grumbleweeds are still touring I understand. Spookily enough I just listened to an old show today from their 1980 series. I'll upload one and pass on the link later today. |

Will it have the wonderful satire of The News Huddlines? I used to love that show. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Yes, there's just 2 of them left now but they keep busy touring. I had them at a theatre I used to work at, but had left by the time they arrived. |

Great! Looking forward to it. I always liked The News Huddlines so I hope the new series comes very close. |

Listened to the show and really enjoyed it. Roy Hudd just as good as ever, though less of the exuberance we used to get on Huddlines. There was still a bit of corpsing/ad-libbing of old in the sliced bread sketch. Nice to hear a R2 comedy show that's funny for once (though I've always enjoyed the Blaggers Guides).
Not sure why it has two titles. On air it's 'HQ' but the website calls it 'Hudd and Quantick's Global Village'. |
