http://news.scotsman.com/uk/Commentators-called-offside-after-sexist.6701125.jp

Dumb & Dumber, Sky Sports football commentators, have faced disciplinary action for stupid sexist comments about a female ref.
These guys are part of a wider problem. Borin g commentators & presenters who think they are great comedians
They are not. They are dumbos!

Rolling Eyes

It was said off air as I understand it. Private discussions should be just that. It was all a bit of banter and some people need to lighten up. I thought it was funny and I'm not sexist!

Listen folks, there's already an existing thread dealing with this topic

If you read the comments on there Eric I don't think many people would agree with you

It may have been a "private conversation" but it reflects their attitudes & whether they are fit to commentate fairly about a sport which will i9ncreasingly have a higher female presence, both as referees & with womens football also becoming established
How would these two bozos be able to commentate sensibly on a female football game?

Imagine if a teacher was heard in the staff room stating that black children were naturally stupid & would not be able to grasp the most basic aspects of maths or gramar?

It was a joke! As far as I'm aware, they don't commentate on female football games - so that's pretty irrelevant.

I enjoy and retell "sexist", "racist" and otherwise "offensive" jokes. As far as I can see, there's nothing wrong with that, people who know me know that I don't condone any racist or sexist act, but in the context of a joke I can enjoy it!

There are so many jokes about women and the off-side rule, at the risk of being sexist I give to you the off-side rule for women:

"when the flag's up, he's off-side"

Some people need to get a grip and take a joke.

There's actually a way better joke involving women and an explanation of the off-side rule with a load of people in a queue, but I can't for the life of me remember it.

Andy has been sacked & it turns out he was guilty of sexual harrasment of female colleagues.

Any potential employer will need to think about the risks of liability if he sexually harrases female colleagues in the future

I agree. It reflects the guys mentality & his behaviour towards his female colleagues.
There have apparentl;y been complaints about his behaviour at work in the past

It wasn't a joke Eric, listen again to the clip, and some other clips that have appeared. He isn't joking. He does not want women in football.

Folks are entitled to their opinions but I'm sure if we read the specification and description of Andy Gray's job it will require that he behave in a manner that is non-sexist, not just on-air but during his duty as a broadcaster. The clip was recorded when he with Sky personnel, using Sky equipment. He brought the company into disrepute, not his first offense, sackable, and good riddance

I'm curious as to how it got out, if it was recorded off-air with Sky equipment, then surely Sky must have released it? You have to question why they'd do that if it "brought the company into disrepute"

Possibly someone senior (or junior), not a fan of Gray, decided that Gray was not fit for this job, and decided to expose him; there had been previous sexist episodes but this one would nail him

It is also interesting that not a single female colleague of the pair could be found to say anything complimentary about either of them

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3371861/Soccer-pundit-Andy-Gray-sacked-over-2nd-sexist-episode-with-female-presenter.html

The Sun also comments that though no further action is to be taken against Keys he is also universally "loathed" at Sky & "the knives are still out"

Sun Editoreal

THE final whistle blows for Sky Sports football dinosaur Andy Gray. And deservedly so.

It wasn't just his sexist sneers at lineswoman Sian Massey that earned him the sack.

In another off-air incident, he embarrassed a woman colleague by asking her to tuck a microphone down his trousers. It was Stone Age coarseness from a professional earning £1.7million a year.

Judged by his own comments, Andy Gray cannot accept women as equals and sees them as sex objects to be belittled and patronised.

A small man with a nasty mouth has rightly been booted out of the park.

I think Sky have used it as an excuse to shake things up a bit, the football shows have loked a bit tardy since MOTD gaot their arses into gear, with the likes of Line Acher.
I still won't be watching it Murdoch doesn't come into my house unless Branson brought him with him.

Can I just put it into context on earnings the Prime Minister earns £142500 per year and this prat earns how much, fair play to him, now take your money and go

I am completely dumbfounded by the revelation that Gray "earnt" £1.7m.

He most certainly did NOT "earn" it, and how obscene is this salary, particularly at a time when most of us would welcome £1.70?

It's just been announced that Richard Keys has resigned from Sky Sports tonight

I definitely think he's done the right thing

It's a pity he didn't do the right thing previously by keeping his big mouth shut Sad

That's one aspect of this affair that has surprised a lot of people,MiS, including Andrew Neil who echoed your sentiments on the radio today ..he said he couldn't believe it either.

So the Sun does not appreciate sexist comments by Andy Gray on Sky Sports.
When are they going to stop publishing photographs of big tits on page 3.
Bloody rank hypocrisy. Evil or Very Mad

Not condoning the Sun, but models request/agree to pose on page 3 so that is different from an assitant ref being slagged off because of her gender.
