I bet the music she plays is very limited too.

Thanks, Gaz- I've labelled her with that self-same accusation on here myself previously. It appears I'm not in a minority of one Very Happy

She's the kind of jock who says, "This is the sort of track you should be listening to..." Thanks, love, but I'll decide what sort of music I like- not you Evil or Very Mad

Hmmm, mixed feelings.

I'll have to buy a digital radio but it will be much better than SW.

But I enjoy having R&M on in the evenings. It stops me from turning on the TV and watching rubbish.

She's always been like that for me too. Desperate to be in with the cool kids (note her recent obsession with Doctor Who as if she's the biggest fan ever despite knowing sod all about it) and desperate to let you know she's in with the cool kids.

I remember this conversation with a caller on her show many years back:

Jo: "Who's your favourite band?"
Caller: "Texas"
Jo: "Have you ever met Sharleen?"
Caller: "No"
Jo: "Oh, I have. Loads of times. She's really nice."
Caller: "Err..."

At that point I gave up with Radio 1.

The move to 6Music was mentioned on R4's "Feedback" programme on Friday afternoon. Opinion was pretty much as here, not welcomed at all.

Won't be listening to Jo Whiney, from experience some years ago, I have the same view as previous posters who thought she was desperate to be seen as one of the "cool kids". Can't see anything will have changed in the intervening years.

You know, it's been a while since I actually welcomed any change that has been made on R2. I'm not sure what that says about me, but I know what effect this has made on the amount of hours I tune into R2 each week.

I'm still reading Phill Jupitus's 'Good Morning Nantwich' and his thoughts on the changes at GLR during his time there make me think of the Who's line 'Meet the new boss - same as the old boss!'

Let's give Jo Wiley a chance before we start rubbishing her.

Personally when I have heard her on the radio she sounds like quite a good "professional dj/presenter" etc with a good musical knowledge.

I certainly won't miss the stumbling, mumbling Mark Radcliffe.

Not sure if its been mentioned already, but with Jo Whiley's new show finishing at 21:30, that leaves half an hour free for, presumably, more documentaries.

It looks like Monday evenings will see Big Band Special fill the half hour gap (according to the Big Band Special pages of the Radio 2 website). Not sure about the rest of the week, presumably that'll be documentaries or some of the other specialist shows could potentially be extended?

I would guess it'll be the half-hour shows such as Big Band Special, Listen To The Band, and The Organist Entertains at 9.30pm so that there can be 2 hour-long shows fitted in (such as Radcliffe's new show) before midnight.

I find it ironic that the only bit of R2 listening I'll be doing today is tonight's R&M show.

Just been listening to Whiley interviewing the rather wonderful 'The Mummers':

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_DxDTbk-EE&feature=related

Good god, Whiley just gets worse. She seems like a toned down Zoe Ball; she's just as clueless, asking totally inane questions (accompanied by insipid, nervous chuckles).

Way to go Jo! Rolling Eyes

Why the hell Shennan is bunging her into R&M's slot is completely beyond me .......
