I'm genuinely shocked to read that. Gary was one of Britain's finest blues/rock guitarists. I saw him several times and he's always given 100% to his performances. Very bad news.

I think his track 'Out In The Fields' is one of those really underrated classic rock songs and as a tribute I'm listening to it right now

May a great musician rest in peace

Personally, I think the very best demonstration of his blues guitar playing skill was with his gig at the Shepherd's Bush Empire (formerly the BBC TV Theatre) which he dedicated to Peter Green - and then managed to coax the great man onto the stage toward the end. The resulting VHS/DVD was named "Blues For Greeny" and is one of the best live gig recordings I have.

It was a fabulous gig in which Moore demonstrated a real passion not only for Peter Green's music but also of blues in general.

Sad to say it but Gary Moore was destined never to be a "rock star" in the way that other guitarists of his generation have largely because he didn't want it. But a great electric blues guitarist he most definitely was.

I hope Joe Bonamassa inherits the guitar that was Peter Green's and then Gary Moore's.
