Perhaps because she's a horrible person who causes trouble everywhere she goes (allegedly)?

What trouble has she caused? The only trouble I read about her is the nasty comments and accusations people post about her on internet forums and what's published in tabloids like the Daily Mail.

I need not to. If you're going to accuse Feltz of being a trouble maker, provide evidence to back up your allegation.

I'm not accusing her of anything, I'm merely relating to comments I've heard from people I know in the business. I don't need to justify anything to you, do I?

You'll be asking me for "evidence" that Evans is insufferable next! Rolling Eyes

You're being very silly. Only a few posts back I said "Talk to people who work in Broadcasting". You filled in the rest.

So - ask somebody who works in broadcasting who has worked with, or close to, Ms. Feltz.

Go on....

You've stated that your comments are based on other broadcasters you have encountered. How do you know they're telling the truth about Vanessa Feltz? It wasn't so long ago The Mirror falsely published that Radio 2 presenters were up in arms about her appointment, with Jeremy Vine being very unhappy about her being his deputy.

Methinks some tabloids spend far too much time reading various internet sites... Rolling Eyes

Put it like this, they don't work as "journalists" on the gutter tabloids. They're people who earn their bread and butter as camera ops, sound recordists, PAs, Avid/FCP editors, radio studio SMs, etc etc etc.

They're always very reliable - but terribly discrete!

I think a lot of people have it in for Vanessa Feltz and I have read some very nasty things published about her. People have made very spiteful and insulting comments about her weight and looks.

Not me. I just think she sounds 'orrible on-air. Horrible woman! A typical Shennan appointment, unfortunately.

I quite enjoy her gentle banter early in the morning. She often sends me to work with a smile on my face.

Like I have already said, people complained about Sarah Kennedy. Now she's gone they're still complaining.

As you dislike Vanessa Feltz so much, why do you post about her so much? Or are you someone who listens to a presenter just so they can complain about them afterwards?

Vanessa Feltz is here to stay, as is Chris Evans. Both are the new generation of breakfast radio on Radio 2.

Well, "new generation" bringing a very old and dated style. Apart from that, you might be right - they're hear to stay. More's the pity! Cool

Nothing stays the same forever. Kennedy and Wogan's reign was bound to come to an end one day. Both were sounding very much out of place on breakfast times.

Feltz and Evans have freshened things up and hauled breakfast times on Radio 2 into the 21st century. It needed to be done.

Perhaps we could have the great Chris Moyles replacing Michael Ball on Sundays?

Elaine Paige for weekday breakfast?

Good thinking Batman.

Harldy. It's more like 20th century programming. It sounds like very average local radio to me.

That was like 15 years ago. Evans has matured and grown up since then. He's been on Radio 2 since 2005 and has not stepped out of line once - and I don't think he ever will. He's much older and wiser.

I've neither heard nor seen any evidence of that!

Really? How many Chris Evans' are there on R2? Have I heard the right one?

The one I've heard is still self-obsessed, infantile and interested in treating his listeners as if they're unthinking morons. Maybe I've heard the Other Chris Evans?

Whether people enjoy the new early sound of Radio 2. VF and CE have freshened up the station.

They didn't sound out of place. Both played a good mix of music including new and old tracks, just like most Breakfast Shows.

Feltz's programme is roughly similar to Sarah Kennedy's - ie similar presentation style (she talks a lot), but I think it works quite well.

Evans' programme... I've never been a massive fan of Evans, but I can put up with him. I preferred him on Drivetime, but I don't think he's right for Breakfast. I usually switch over to the BBC World Service at 6:30.

(I'm not saying I don't want Evans on Radio 2 though - there are many people I know who do listen, and wouldn't want it any other way).

Matthew Campbell wrote:

Nothing needed to be done - Kennedy & Wogan were doing well. It is a shame that Wogan decided to step down from Breakfast; but it was always going to happen sooner or later.

Fred, Wogan was due to leave the breakfast show at the end of 2008 but was persuaded to remain hosting the show for a further 12 months because of the Brand/Ross debacle.

Wogan and Kennedy, in my opinion, were sounding very much out of place on what is a fast-evolving radio network.

Feltz and Evans are exactly what breakfast times need.

Well, that's a matter of opinion. If people are unthinking morons (in the case of Evans) then perhaps so. For people who don't like being treated like they have IQs of zero, perhaps not.

Radio 2 shoudn't be a 'fast evolving network'

It should be a quality reliable network for refugees from Radio 1

That's just morbid curiosity. Like people slowing down to look at a car crash, it's just that in R2's case the crash hasn't happened yet.

What a long trawl I had to find a Vanessa Feltz thread, but I found one! Well anyway, seen in today's Daily Mirror, Vanessa is to stand down on both Radios 2 & London: https://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/breaking-vanessa-feltz-quits-bbc-27596339

Seems like they are all leaving R2 LEE. Caught it on the end of a news programme then had to look it up so see what was happening.

I wonder who will get the slot?
