Actress Amanda Holden has had a miscarrige. She was 7 months pregnant. Just wondering, as she's a celebrity and it's tragic news, should it make one of the headlines on the BBC News channel?

I see from this (sad) story that the BBC are using twitter as their main source of news these days
Who cares which 'celebs' twittered to her ? |

I never watch any programns Amanda presents, but very sad at this news. I heard on the radio this is the second time this has happened to her.
May she be well & get over this ordeal soon
As to the linked BBC report, why the long quotes from piers bleeping Morgan. Who cares what he tweets????
Again, best wishes to Amanda. May she be well |

But a tweet only provides a link back to an existing news item on the website, so it was the website story that came before the tweet.
PS: I love Mark's use of the words "Headline News" in his title. He really does think he's running a news agency! |

I think Mark had his tongue firmly in his cheek on this occasion; it wasn't headline news, at least, not on the BBC News page.
It is a sad development, as it is for anyone who suffers it. As with Lily Allen a few months ago she's a celebrity well-liked by the public (despite what some people may write on forums) and there's nothing wrong in reporting it briefly. _________________ Ron |

ghastly untalented women, but would not wish this on anyone. It must be horrible to lose a baby so late (not that losing one early is great) but she would have to given birth to it one way or the other. It is unusualu to lose a baby so late but not unheard of, Ms Allen lost hers fairly late on as well. _________________ You will hear gospel and rhythm and blues and jazz, all those are just labels, we know that music is music. |

I don't think we should be talking about this- it's such a personal thing- poor girl. |

I agree. It's none of our business.
And nor is the death of Barry Norman's wife!!!
Mark, do you glorify in others' misfortunes?? |

I think, to be fair to Mark, he actually is questioning the newsworthiness of this story. He's saying, should it be headline news?
I have to say, it didn't come up in any of my news sources, and it's only because of Twitter that I know about it. I would guess the tabloids are full of it though and I hear that idiot Richard Bacon even asked Les Dennis about it this afternoon on Radio 5Live. |

Yes, it's a terrible shame. But I was disgusted by the sycophantic messages from Myleene Klass and the like in the tabloids.
Richard Bacon is equally as sensitive as the prat in Mojo magazine, who in his review of Tori Amos's 'From The Choirgirl Hotel' (inspired by Amos's own miscarriage), wrote 'It's my postpartum and I'll cry if I want to'!
Laugh, I thought I'd never start. _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!
