Nine seems way too many. We have just two , one for paper and cardboard, it's a bag, and one box for glass and tins with a little divider. We don't have wheelie bins - we just put out bin bags- as many as we like, in our case about half a bag. We have to take our plastic bottles and tinfoil to a big skip thing in Tesco Carpark, although there's nothing to prevent us from putting them in our bin bags if we want to, but most don't. The problem, is, there is, I think, 5 or 6 types of recyclable plastic- there's a little number on the bottom of recyclable plastic bottles etc- most places want only number 2s- I think- the milk bottle kind, if the different types are mixed it's not cost effective to sort them out so they get dumped in landfill. that's why even though your yoghurt pots are recyclable most skips have a sign saying "no yoghurt pots" cos they are number 5 type plastic and are no good for the number 2 seeking recyc companies. |

I find it quite irritating that with some local authority bottle recycling schemes people have to put them into seperate bins depending on the colour of glass whereas with others it doesn't matter and they can all be put in the same bin
I recycle almost everything and put out only about one black bin bag per month
I was told a while ago that we have too much green glass here and a lot of it gets exported to places like Argentina but I don't know whether that's still true
With nine containers we're almost getting to the position in Belgium where every house has some type of collection every working day _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

We have 5 including 2 wheelie bins.
I do it most of the time every now and then I think there's more to life than recycling and bung the whole lot in the black bin for a while! It gets to me now and then and I don't actually think it does any good in many cases.
