What is the point of Simon Mayo and his sidekicks asking each other questions, which they clearly have no idea of the answers, and then simply guessing the answer from 3 answers ? Rolling Eyes

It's as dull as Chris Evans and his sidekicks and their 'news' contests Rolling Eyes

DULL radio Rolling Eyes

I don't mind it at all Nod. If I hear it we are usually still at the table while we eat and I must admit O/H and I play along with them.

I really don't think you can compare the two examples quoted

It really all depends whether the questions being asked are intelligent or plain silly

I've nothing against quizzes on radio in principle but you have to look at every example on its own merits

They often have some relevance to something in the news, sport, finance. For instance the other week Simon attended a 'driver awareness' course (or whatever they call them) after he'd been stopped for speeding. His question that night was something in the Highway Code that he the rest of his group had been asked.

At the end of the day it makes you think which which is all to the good IMHO.

The most pointless quiz was on Simon Mayo a few years ago when contestants in a 'poker' game had to guess the playing time of records.
Totally pointless. And dull, just dull.

Yes, I agree Schiz that was very dull and totally pointless

Presumably that's why it was quietly dropped very quickly

I think the show has come a long way since those early days. It's been the only thing I've listened to this week, not every night though.

They compare, 1 dj, 2 sidekicks, pointless quizes, scores that mean nothing, neither has any merit in my view Very Happy

I say they don't compare because of the difference between the quality of the content

They may both be quizzes with a presenter and others but one is intelligent and relevant and the other is not

As I said one has to judge every radio quiz on its own merits
