Alas I can't say, Rach. I have only been watching BBC News via Virgin cable and that has been OK _________________ Ron |

No problem with the North West transmitter at Winter Hill Rachel unless it happened while some irritating person was on the phone to me trying to sell fitted kitchens _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Could just be a glitch in the local transmitter or repeater signal chain. |

Something weird going on with transmission lately. Both myself and a Twitterer I follow in Bristol could only get a drill-like stuttering sound on DAB the other Sunday morning, where Steve Wright should have been. |

I'm sure that WAS actually Steve Wright. Come to think of it, I'm sure I've heard that sound in my left ear at about 6.35am weekdays. It was much like the sound of a dentist's drill - only slightly less pleasant! |

I was sporadically losing all the BBC networks (well, 1, 2, 3 and 4) at work for about 20 minutes at a time - happened maybe twice every three weeks from about last October through to January. Only happened when I was at work and nothing to do with my MP3/radio - colleagues had the same problem.
A drill-like stuttering sound could sum up quite a few Radio 2 presenters at the moment, Colin! _________________ Author: “To the Ends of the Earth: A Snapshot of Aviation in North-Eastern Siberia, Summer 1992”

I remember hearing someone on Radio 2 last weekend (Michael Ball, perhaps?) saying that they were aware of problems with DAB. The announced it as back later on, though.

He was only acknowledging what engineering specialists have known all along.
It's the same with the BBC's implementation of HD television - they're trying to get away with data rates which are barely higher than standard definition - and it shows!!! |
