Listening to the first Barry Adamson album called "Moss Side Story" his soundtrack to a film of the same name. There is no such film but he loved soundtrack albums by John Barry, Ennio Morricone and Bernard Hermman so thought he'd make one, interesting stuff _________________ You will hear gospel and rhythm and blues and jazz, all those are just labels, we know that music is music. |

Keith Skues' 20th March show via the iPlayer from Radio Norfolk. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p00fdmz4
If my memory serves me correctly there can't be many more of his shows left as I think he leaves the station in April.
A few goodies from the 60s including 3 from Jet Harris as a tribute.

I've listened to the 2011 remake of Kate Bush's Deeper Understanding and find the vocoder effect's a bit Wall-E. Love the harmonica though - I'd like to imagine it's Steve Hackett getting a bit of divorce money for his ex! _________________ We are loonies and we are proud!

I'm listening to Jonathan Jeremiah's album which I bought after hearing his single on Radio 2.
I am really enjoying it, mix of a couple of souly tracks like the single and some singer songwriter style songs.
His voice really reminds me of someone like Tim Hardin I think, can't quite put my finger on it.
Also (no sneers please), I genuinely really like the Azerbaijan song from Eurovision. I think it's a great little pop song and have listened to it a few times on Youtube.

I'll let you know when I've listened a bit more, so far I'm enjoying it. Atmospheric and electronic, one track a bit like Laurie Anderson.
You are supposed to listen to it from start to end.
I don't know much of his earlier records. I heard a track from it he did live on R2 and bought it after hearing that. |

It's not easy explaining music to some one else so I hope this is some use...
Be the One is the one that reminded me of Laurie Anderson. If you like this track then you should like the CD, it's very Ambient throughout, and at times reminds me of some Brian Eno tracks, and some of the vocals sound like Annie Lennox but it isn't her.
None of the tracks really jump out as hit singles (not always a bad thing in my view) , I don't expect to hear much of it on R2, and I don't expect anyone will be dancing to them but I like it. |

Thanks Nod, I think I will get it then.
If you haven't heard his earlier stuff I would recommend Play, you will know most tracks on it from adverts and tv shows. It did get really over played but I don't blame Moby for it because if he hadn't sold the rights to these sources we wouldn't have had the chance to hear them at all _________________ You will hear gospel and rhythm and blues and jazz, all those are just labels, we know that music is music. |

A wonderful song I've heard a couple of times on Radcliffe and Maconie on 6 Music.
I saw them live last year supporting Gogol Bordello and they were very good then. |

I've heard the Overtones a few times and think they sound good, I love catchy songs by the way.
I'm enjoying the "Ghost On The Canvas" album by Glen Campbell, some great songs on there.
Also love the new song by Steven Page, radio friendly and catchy but no airplay on R2.

Listening to Smooth radio this morning I understand that the Overtones are playing in Glasgow shortly as part of the station's 'Love Live Music' regular events
I didn't catch the date but if anyone is interested tickets are free and available from the Smooth Radio website _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Rather confusingly I'm going to see the Undertones in a couple of weeks time. They're doing a special charity gig with Ash and Divine Comedy - each group perfoming tracks from one of their classic albums in sequence (The Undertones/1977/Promenade).
The Overtones actually kicked off their UK tour at the Millennium Forum in Derry - I wonder how many confused punks turned up and wondered what had happened to the band since Feargal Sharkey's departure! |

I'm currently attempting to get myself into gear this miserable wet June morning by listening to one of my all-time favourite albums - "Bryter Layter" by the late, but great, Nick Drake.
He left us some truly beautiful music and this, in my opinion, represents his very best. |
