Listening to Chris Evans Show, he let slip that he will come live from outside St James Palace on 29th April which is the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton!! How exciting...

Oh how exciting. Rolling Eyes

I wouldn't have bothered with the "royal wedding" anyhow but the presence of Evans and his gob puts the lid on it, for sure.

Hopefully he'll get moved along by the police and have to go off air - bliss!

I probably will watch the wedding but am less likely to if Gingergob is going to try to grab all the attention. No doubt he's already arranging for pictures of him to be plastered all over Westminster Abbey.

I don't know where I will be. I can imagine it will be all over the news from 6am that day hours before they get hitched... One question.. " How long have you been camped here".. :roll I wonder if it will be as bigger attraction, if not bigger - as Prince Charles and Princess Diana's wedding?

I just don't want to know about the Royal Wedding. I just want to know why it's affordable to have this and not to keep libraries open or fund the NHS.

The monthly Sky mag arrived this weekend and it's hyping the above, too.

Hours before? Don't you mean weeks?

I have zero interest in any royal wedding, and even less interest in the radio monstrosity that is Chris Evans.

So why am I commenting on this thread? Any excuse to slag off Evans really. Smile

So the BBC are really pulling out all the talent for the Royal Wedding, Evans, Fearne Cotton, Edith Bowman, Chris Hollins, Alex Jones and Anita Rani.

Has the BBC really come to this?

I also note that Ken Bruce will be featured in the Radio 2 coverage, an oasis in the desert of talentless wannabe's !

Do 99% of the population who are struggling for money, losing their jobs, their homes and their respect for the country they live in actually care a crap that a bunch of celebs are 'doing' a Royal wedding that said percentage of population wouldn't turn an eye (or ear) to if their very lives depended on it?

Thankfully I'll be out of the country that day, so I win.

What a lot of old grumps. Talk about glasses being half empty. Yes. I'm concerned about the cuts in public services and have great sympathy for all those who are suffering hardship (although what did people expect when they voted in a Tory government?) but does that mean no-one can be happy? I think we should celebrate anything that will brighten up peoples' lives.

What, a wedding between two people nobody except staunch Royalists give a hoot about? And when a country is deep in recession, the nation is granted a day off to celebrate this non-event at a cost of 1.2 billion pounds in British productivity due to said day off? No thanks, and I'm not grumpy at all, it just has absolutely no relevance to my life in any way shape or form.

And at the risk of politicising the thread, I'm no Tory lover, but had Labour not screwed over the UK for 13 years and left it at the begging bowl, the Tories wouldn't be bringing in all manner of cuts. The Labour supporters conveniently forget this small detail.

You took the words right out of my mouth. It's a royal wedding - how the hell does that make most people any happier? It's not a case of being grumpy - some of us just find such pageantry to be exceedingly dull.

I don't dislike the royal family, but I don't give a flying fig about any damn royal wedding and all the unnecessary and excessive media coverage that it will generate. I don't even know when it takes place (month or day) - THAT'S how little I care about it.

I'm showing the Royal Wedding on the big-screen at my theatre - sadly, by public demand. I'd rather have a day out. At least I'll be sat in the bar!

Going back to the topic, I expect lots and lots of BBC shows will be coming from St James Palace that day so it's not unsurprising the country's most-listened to breakfast show will be there too.

I'm hoping to be camping on a remote Scottish island (any of them!) on that day - hopefully there'll be poor radio reception.

Just looking at the Radio 2 schedules for the rest of the Royal Wedding day.

It looks like Richard Allinson will be sitting in for Vanessa Feltz, 5 to 8 am.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b010hf8n; Tony Blackburn sitting in for Steve Wright 2 to 5 pm http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b010hf8v.
