Anyone listen to the first edition last night?

I heard most of it and didn't think it was bad at all. Thought he cheated a bit on his first bought record though. It should have been Pushbike Song but he reckoned he was given money by his mother so it didn't count....... so he played Virginia Plain as he used his own pocket money for that one!

Will definitely try to remember to listen next week.

I would as well.

First record I bought was Kenneth McKellar's The Tartan, under what a lawyer might describe as undue influence, of my mother.

I'd much rather mention the first record I saved up properly for, which was the Spotlight On The Shadows EP - Frightened City, Kon-Tiki, Peace Pipe and The Savage. 10/11d it cost (55p) and I've still got it.

The very first record I bought with my own money was The Beatles' "She Loves You" (c/w "I'll Get You") on Parlophone and - guess what? - I have it in my hand right now.

I had a hooked up a record turntable to my sound mixer recently (in order to digitise some LPs for a friend) and I demonstrated to my 9-year-old grandson how we listened to music back in ye olden days. He was fascinated.

In fact, the sight of the 45rpm record spinning on the turntable was, to use his own expression, "awesome"!

I think it's going to be a good one Becky!

I wasn't a huge fan when he first came to R2. I'd long since given up on R1 so didn't really know much about him but I think a late night show suits and I missed his previous late show when it came to an end.

This reminds me of when we bought a turntable so that we could play our old vinyl records and my son's reaction (he was 18 at the time) was "Wow! That's so retro!"

I enjoyed Mark Radcliffe's show, but it's a shame it's on so late on a 'school night'.
