Thanks for posting this Mark. I tried to find the dates without success, think I'll have to wait in the hope that JW might come a bit nearer, if he hasn't already. _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

I'm very envious...I expect you'll enjoy the night...
Suspect these nights work best in the South of the UK where many remember the Pirates of the 60's too... |

I'm sure I will.
Lots of people in the North listened to pirate radio though. There was Caroline North which I remember hearing on Blackpool beach with my cousins (they lived nearby) when I was on holiday in the summer of 64. I was gutted that you couldn't hear it back in Newcastle!

As a southerner who grew up with the pirates, I would love to go to see Johnnie Walker on his tour. He was my hero especially after August 14th 1967. You are so lucky Helen! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

I can't believe that it's going to happen Angela, really starting to look forward to it now!
I'm hoping to maybe get his autograph in my battered little old book. Had it since the 60s and it always causes a comment. JV said you rarely see them these days when I asked him to sign it when I went to the R2 studio.

You shouldn't be disappointed Aitch. I saw him last year when he was at a nearby venue. He was on his own (No Tiggy) that time. He met his audience after the show and he signed my copy of his autobiography & the ticket. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

I went to see Johnnie Walker's Musical Milestones last Wednesday in Bristol, and can thoroughly recommend this. He is an absolute legend and we had a wonderful time. A lot of what he says is in his autobiography, as are most of the photos that he shows, but don't let that put you off - he is fantastic. We were able to put questions to him and he certanly answered the two that I wrote out, so I think that he must have gone through them all. After the show he appeared in the foyer and was happy to have a bit of a chat and sign autographs, so I was finally able to get my copy of his autobiography signed. |

I can only echo what Mi Amigo has said above!
I saw Johnnie at the Pyramid Warrington on Friday and he was in superb form. It was like having a lot of your musical life of that last 40+ years relived. I had questions answered as well and got my autograph book signed at the end. A great night and I was in a sort of dream yesterday!
Did he mention anything about an internet show Mi Amigo?

So glad to hear that you enjoyed yourself, Helen. No, he didn't say anything to us about an internet programme. Will have to await developments with interest! |
