I don't normally watch Wimbledon, but I've made a bit of an effort this summer. Yesterday I had to turn over to find a match that didn't have women players, I was so fed up with all the shrieking every time they hit the ball. I don't mind the odd explosive grunt, and can even possibly understand that, but there was one woman yesterday who was practically cooing, long after the ball had left her racket. Are they trained to do this these days? What's it supposed to achieve? Evil or Very Mad

I agree and what is this using the towel after every shot?I wish Andy Murray all the best but can someone give him a personality?

Must admit the shrieking annoys me. Can't see why they have to do it at all.

I agree, it's bloody awful, I sometimes think they do it on purpose to try and put their opponent off.
To me it makes the women's game a turn off, I know the boys grunt sometimes but nowhere near as much as the girls.

All this shrieking is not necessary to make good shots and should be stamped out at an early stage of their coaching.

Did you see the match between Sharapova and Laura Robson? Shara is one of the worst culprits and Laura played splendid tennis, gave Shara a real shock in the first set by leading 3-0 and uttered not a sound.

So it can be done.
