I find it difficult to see how this system can really work

As I understand it 'Claire' was a person who was strangled by a man she met through Facebook but is someone seriously suggesting that every time a woman arranges a date with a man through a social networking site she will have the right to have someone run a check on a possible violent past?

If so this would tie up huge resources and cost a fortune and quite frankly if people don't want to risk a problem the answer is for them to be more careful in their method of selecting possible dates

If on the other hand the system is only intended to be available to women about to enter serious relationships like marriage then I can understand the logic but perhaps the proposal should be given a different name

Women should know if they are going to get into bed with a violent person. If they want to continue with the relationship afterwards then thats down to them. At least the Tories will continue with this where Labour started it.

They could still turn out to be violent even if they didn't meet over the internet................
