This is going to run and run. Will Parliament have to delay their summer recess I wonder?

The Murdochs don't have to attend the DCMS committee if they don't want too, as they an't British Citizens. Brooks won't be able to be shielded by them..

One of my closest friends joined News International as Pensions Director just 2 mths ago.

I spoke to him today-he said to me "Mark what I have let myself in for here in joining this organisation".

Happy Days!

Well what a shock, so Ms Brooks has finally gone

Call me cynical but I think she went today because she had outlived her usefulness to the Murdoch empire having taken the flack for her bosses for the last week

No doubt the resignation was a ploy to take the heat out of the story and make life easier for all the guilty parties when they appear before the Commons committee next week just like the placing of adverts this weekend in all the national newspapers is

I bet Rebekah will leave with a nice golden handshake and a gold plated pension in the future - when in reality she should have been sacked over a week ago

Still because it's the corrupt British media why shoukld anyone be that surprised Rolling Eyes

Rebekah Brooks has been arrested as part of the phone hacking investigation.

It seems an unfolding event is building up with Police Corruption and News International dirty linen being washed in the public.

The only good thing I can say about her is that she has fantastic Pre-Raphaelite hair. How surprising that she turned down the scoop of the MPs' expenses scandal story, allowing The Telegraph to get it instead. What was behind that decision I wonder? The plot thickens.

It seem's the Sky News info won't be coming from Brooks as she has been paid by News Corp to keep her mouth shut and a £3.5m payout as News International slaps gagging orders on all chief executives. She has offered to speak to the police since January. Maybe she might not be able to speak to the select committee on Tuesday 19th July..

Oh, I've just remembered why she turned down the expenses scoop - she is quoted as saying that there wasn't enough sex in it.

In my opinion the attempted cover up has already started

Why did the police choose today to arrest Ms Brooks?

The answer is quite simply so that when she goes before the Commons Committee on Tuesday she will be constrained as to what she can say about this whole sordid episode especially in relation to her previous dealings with the police - clearly the police don't want her to spill the beans on anything which might be embarrassing to them

We are told that the police are now treating such matters seriously but the timing of this arrest does make me wonder

Oh and by the way there aren't many potential criminals who get arrested by prior appointment Rolling Eyes

Assistant Commissioner John Yates has also resigned over the phone hacking. He was going to be suspended.

Somehow I think he might have been given a tip off that he was about to be sacked and so he resigned in order to preserve his probably very large pension fund

After all his track record doesn't exactly inspire confidence

About 40 News International Staff who worked for News Of The World are seeking legal advice whether to sue the company over breach that they may not be able to find jobs because of these phone hacking allegations. I wonder if staff could sue for damages, because they could be blacklisted when going for interviews and saying they worked for NI?
