Today I celebrate (not) the fact that I have been in the world of work for 34 years.
I remember my first day at work (joining the Prudential) as though it was yesterday.
I've only had 4 employers in all that time-not bad people tell me.
My god has the world of work changed since I started.
I feel old, and am only in my early 50's-how many more years do I have to work before I secure a decent pension to help me in old age (and I work in the pensions industry). |

Its all too depressing to think about. Retirement gets further away for me thanks to the last two governments! _________________ Pirate Johnnie Walker played my request on 11 April 2009 |

I am definitely not celebrating the fact that 19 years ago today I made the greatest mistake of my life in getting married to someone I did not love
However looking on the positive side I am celebrating the fact that as a result I have two wonderful children and exactly four years ago today I regained my life thanks to a divorce decree absolute
Could this be some kind of unique record or has anyone else had a similar experience? _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

SNAP! I started work on exactly the same day and have had 5 employers so pretty similar. _________________ MiS |

Blimey, we must all be of the same age! I started my first proper paid job on July 1st 1977 as an Assistant Producer/Transmission Compiler (a posh description for button-pushing, blame-taking, dogsbody) for a small TV station in the fledgling cable/satellite broadcasting business here in the UK.
It was also the month in which I met my long-suffering "significant other". We had a fab time, complicated only by the fact that she was married to somebody else at the time!!! |

Thank you Eileen and I'll let you into a secret
When my decree absolute was about to be issued in August 2007 by chance I knew the judge in Chester who was dealing with it so I asked her whether she would be kind enough to do it for exactly the same date as the original marriage anniversary date and she was quite happy with this
I expect she saw the funny side _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

So interesting to note that quite a few of us are the same age etc.
Maybe one day we will all meet up etc. Sharing life experiences would no doubt be part of the joy of the "meeting up experience". |
