No, Ken gets 7.8m and Simon gets 5.8m - still their best-ever figures but not as high as you say!

And Desmond Carrington has also got his "best-ever" figures of 700,000. I would assume that just means his Friday slot though.

Ok we don't have to be picky over a few figures. Although people think Evans isn't worth listening too, well it doesn't show that in the figures.

At the risk of going over old ground listening figures prove very little

As I have mentioned before the Sun newspaper (using the term very loosely) sells more copies than any of its rivals but anybody with even half a brain would never dream of describing it as a publication of any quality

It's exactly the same in other areas of life including broadcasting - high audience figures simply cannot necessarily be regarded as evidence of a quality radio show and I really don't understand why certain posters on here still insist on apparently believing they are of any great significance Sad

If it was 50m I still wouldn't be listening Very Happy

It's not all about figures.

Congratulations Christopher, but just remember your listening figures ONLY count when they go down!!!!
By the way Ruddles, what would you say is a good newspaper?

I don't like any newspapers really Gaz - in fact I'm famous on here for my hatred of them - but I certainly think that the Sun is just about as deep in the gutter as one can get and if I had to pick the least worst newspaper I would probably have to plump for either the Telegraph or the Guardian depending on one's political views

As for audience figures I certainly wouldn't pay any attention if the breakfast show figures went down because as I said they are meaningless for any show - to me what counts is quality when it comes to broadcasting because it's not as though we get any discount on our licence fee for having to put up with second rate output and I make that observation as a general point and not to have a go at anyone in particular

Of course if you buy a product at say Tesco you often get bargain prices for very basic products and more expensive prices for better quality products

It's a pity that formula can't be applied to broadcasting Smile
