Can anything be that funny???? Rolling Eyes I've turned the radio off in the room where I'm sitting, but elsewhere in the house it sounds like someone's let a herd of wild animals loose ... braying, cackling, shrieking.

It must be a laugh a minute working on that show. Twisted Evil

I'd love to see and hear a herd of Wilderbeest sweeping majestically past my front window - provided Alan Carr is trampled somewhere underneath

There doesn't seem to be any other way of shutting him up Mad

Or a herd of elephants - even better Very Happy

There was a time when I would have had Radio 2 on all afternoon on saturdays. That was in the days when the saturday line-up went something like: Mo Dutta (early breakfast) SOTS (These if I was on holiday) Tried, but couldn't enjoy Wossy, even if the music was generally good so didn't listen to that one. Then came Comedy hour (It was funny in those days, it was the era of News Huddlines, It's Been A Bad Week etc) POTP, Richard Allinson, Paul Gambaccini. Then various equally good shows, viz: live gigs, Documentaries, The Critical List (Stuart Maconie) Bob Harris. Aahh, those were the days. Sadly there's very little left for me nowadays.

Yes, the memory of eating our evening meal to the educated, knowledgeable and polished tones of Paul Gambacini ... happy days! Never to be experienced again, I fear.

The good news is that 'Gambo' is still there. He comes on at 8:00pm.

Ah yes Allinson usually while I was making the meal followed by Gambo............. it seems light years away somehow. They were the good times. Smile

This is it, comedians are really meant to be seen as well as heard; on stage or TV. Certainly not playing at being DJs on the radio. If they wanted a life spinning records, surely they would have followed that path from the word go!

Like many other so called 'comedians' of our age he isn't at all funny to me - just plain irritating and the same goes for the likes of Ricky Gervaise who seems to find it amusing to poke fun at the most unfortunate members of our society

To me comedy on radio and TV has been dead since the mid 90's and Radio 2 should stick to playing music Mad

I'm another one who used to love a day out with my girlfriend, then back home for a nice meal - accompanied by Allinson, Maconie, Gambo. I do things differently now, possibly because the schedule change.

Having said that, we were out driving a few weeks back when Carr & Sykes came on and - to our surprise - we really enjoyed it. It was a fun, lively, pick-me-up. Yes, they can be irritating but if you're in the mood to go with the flow it's pretty good.

I'm afraid Alan Carr for me is the radio equivalent of dragging a nail down a blackboard....

When we were at school we used to play a game where you nominated two of the most repulsive boys you could think of, and each girl had to decide which one she would snog if she really had to. (Small things, small minds etc...)

So, revisiting my youth today, and not having been quick enough to load up Mozilla to get Absolute Radio on my computer, I caught a few minutes of Chris Evans. And thought, if I had to spend half an hour listening to either of Chris Evans and Alan Carr, who would it be?

Chris Evans. Defo! Wink

It's entertainment. Shocked Graham Norton laugh can be sometimes ignoring, but Alan Carr is just over the top.

Well I am quite happy to ignore Mr Norton's laugh and indeed the rest of his show

Yet another irritating presenter in the style of Evans Carr and Ball Mad

When Biggins covered I thought he would have been awlful, but was a refreshing change. Maybe he could replace Carr?
