Doctors have urged the Government to stop drivers from smoking in cars. Closing windows can cause problems for passengers with large amounts of hamful chemicals been exposed.

______________

Two things. Don't smoke with non smoking passengers. Even though it's your car, show respect. Or open the window, but that can still not prevent smoke and can be cold in the winter or when it's raining you can't.

How can they police this?

I'm all in favour of discouraging people from smoking but as far as I am concerned this is a step too far

The next logical step would be to stop people smoking in their own homes because other people either live there or visit

It's the nanny state at its very worst which I rather hoped had reduced after seeing the back of Blair but evidently not Evil or Very Mad

I don't like this one bit as Ruddles says it's a nanny state I don't smoke so not a problem for me.I have to admit that when they banned smoking from non eating pubs it was a bit too much

I still smoke although not as much as I used to. I have not smoked whilst driving since I set fire to my trousers a few years ago with a certain exception. If I get stuck in a traffic jam that is going no-where fast. I also pop out to the car for a smoke at lunch to listen to JV. I never carry children in the car and probably only have a passenger once a week for 10 miles or so. I don't see why I should be legislated against.

I don't like it either, I've never smoked myself but I believe in freedom of choice to do so.
I think pubs should have separate smoking rooms as I believe the current ban is causing many pubs to close and others to struggle.
