Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles are to be axed as hosts of ITV flop Daybreak. They are both to bow out with in weeks, and be replaced with different presenters over the coming months. The two were poached by the ITV to host the new flag ship morning show, but after dismal ratings ITV bosses have ran out of patience. They both will be offered other roles at ITV if they go gracefully....

They were already at the BBC Mark so they would hardly be poached by them. Rolling Eyes

A sorry tale of the grass is greener on the other side methinks...............

Yes essexlady, I think you're right. Evans was given the Friday show. Quite insulting to the incumbents I thought. I quite often used to watch "The One Show" in the Chiles/Bleakley days but gave up shortly after they left. I thought they made a pretty good team. I never saw their ITV incarnation.

Yes, that's as I remember it too. I've still no idea why they gave the Friday edition to Evans and still don't understand the BBC's obsession with him. I agree with FleetingEileenM, it must have seemed an insult to Chiles & Bleakley, especially when it was proposed to then extend Evan's day to an hour. Why only extend that one day's show and not the whole week's? I do watch the current One Show on Monday - Thursday as Matt Baker & Alex Jones are suitable replacements, but still won't watch the Friday show, unless Evans is not there, as he wasn't yesterday so I was able to see Matt conclude his marathon rickshaw ride.

If Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles are being axed could I just say while ITV are re-vamping can they get rid of that 'Lorraine' programme which comes after Daybreak. I see no point of that show at all

The thing is Lorraine gets over a million viewers - compared to the 600-700k that Daybreak gets, and higher Audience Appreciation ratings too.

Please give me an explanation why such a big audience?
Is it that the old dears in homes are positioned in front of the TV when they get up....so they just accept her.

Nothing will convince me that she is worth the money she is paid for 4 days work.........

I see it's been decided that Christine Bleakley was too 'lightweight' for the news items, which need a trained journalist to deliver them convincingly.

So they're lining up Nadia Katinsky (or whatever) to replace her. An ex weather girl?

Pulleeeeze!

No idea why Lorraine gets such high figures - it just does!

Natasha Kaplinsky has never been a weather girl, although she is best known for winning Strictly Come Dancing. As far as I know she's been reading the news for over 10 years - most recently on Channel 5 (where her editor was the bloke who's taking over Daybreak). But I agree she's not very good!

Adrian looked so awkward on Daybreak after the weekend story. Christine wasn't there, she's lined to take over Dancing On Ice from Holly.

I can't see Aled will burn to many bridges with the BBC. He'll continue I guess with Songs Of Praise, but he's a freelancer and working for both the Beeb and ITV like a lot do.
