Nice to see Rachel!

I've been a bit no-Christmas this year, I DIDN'T SEND ANY CARDS (BUT MRS W PICKED OUT 10 OF MY FRIENDS/FAMILY FROM THE ADDRESS BOOK AND WROTE THEM!)

Merry Christmas to all of you!

Indeed. Here's hoping Prince Philip does make a good recovery.

Its nice to see you Santa, some of us were quite worried when you disappeared so suddenly. It was nice to see Rachel and Ron back making visits too. Hope we will see you again soon. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all!

I'm a bit late - even busier than expected all day yesterday - but I wish everyone here a Merry Christmas. Hope you all enjoy the rest of the holiday.

So good to see you, SantaFefan!

Very Happy Thanks all.. I appreciate your nice comments.
I didn't mean to be away for so long really.. been a bit of a strange period for me - nothing remotely nasty or serious, just lot's of work, disruption and thinking about life in general... I think it might be linked to getting old! Laughing

Super bright day here, glorious in fact. Just took the Newfie for a walk along the beach and looking forward to our lunchtime Buffet for the residents. Cold meats, salad and fries.. fall asleep then Eastenders tonight.. jubbly!
Have a great day all and it's nice to be back! Very Happy

Just reviving a Christmas thread a bit early Razz

But just saying that I'm fed up of the over-sentimental Christmas adverts offered by the big stores this Christmas season. It all seemed to start with the John Lewis during the X-factor about two weeks ago, little did we know that most of the other big stores had someone 'special' Rolling Eyes to offer. M&S, Iceland, Debenhams, Tesco, Aldi, Asda .... I'm just fed up of the whole lot!

For me they're wasting their time, Mrs W never says what she wants/needs so I do my shopping on Christmas Eve at one shopping mall, randomly walking around in a panic! Very Happy

Since I don't reside in America John I do my shopping at my local shopping centre - well if you call 30 miles away 'local' Smile

Hopefully a bit earlier than Christmas Eve though Shocked

Sick of the adverts, sick of getting emails from companies I bought something off may moons ago notifying me of their 'special offers'
I hate shopping, The Internet is a absolute godsend, bought most of my presents already.

Roll on spring. Laughing

Yet another alien American import - presumably being peddled by Asda via its parent company Walmart Rolling Eyes

I remember in the old days you always had to wait till AFTER Christmas to get any bargains, Christmas sales were always on Boxing Day or maybe the day after.

The BBC always used to film them opening the doors to Harrods and people would swarm in, tripping over etc., and I think they always put a crockery stand near the doors so that porcelain plates went flying in the melee and all the grannies watching would say Tut Tut look at them that's disgraceful behaviour Very Happy

Ruddles, I do agree with you on this Black Friday nonsense. The major retailers are displaying their true cynical colours by getting on this American bandwagon.

They assume we're all obsessed with consumerism and that we're all stupid. We're not - are we ??

No Colin - and anyway I don't have time to be queueing up at Asda waiting for them to open on the day after Thanksgiving - I'm just too busy - as far as I'm concerned anyone who is so obsessed with grabbing a so called bargain' deserves to end up with a broken wrist as happened in Belfast today

Lucky I wasn't there otherwise they probably would have ended up with a far worse injury

Most of them are not bargains anyway. We are not all stupid but sadly many people are gullible and easily taken in by these 'deals'

I agree, it's another ghastly American import.

The only good thing about Black Friday is the Steely Dan song of the same name.
