Great guesses Angel including a couple I wouldn't have thought of but sadly you've still not got the right fuel brand yet Sad

Being that supermarkets are now very big players in fuel retailing I'm amazed that nobody has mentioned any 'James Morrison' or 'Van Morrison' tracks for this link

And what about all those mid 80's hits by that well known Essex family group 'Five Star' Smile

Actually when I did this link live unlike here for the fourth track I used the track 'So Lonely' by 'The Police'

Now most people were wondering how on earth that track linked with fuel retailers - I'll tell you what - if anyone can work it out and come up with the correct answer for the fourth track on here I'll give them an extra glass of champagne Very Happy

Silk and Steel - 5 STAR
Jealous Mind - Alvin STARdust
Gonna Make you a STAR - David Essex
STARman - David Bowie
You Give Me Something - James MORRISON
Brown Eyed Girl - Van MORRISON

I can only think that there was a brand of petrol called Solo, although I must admit I don't remember one. Confused

No sorry Angel I was just teasing a bit in my last post Embarassed - the track has nothing to do with Five Star or James Morrison - I was just trying to suggest that there were quite a few obvious tracks that had been missed in relation to this link

Anyway time for another clue I think

The brand of fuel concerned does still exist (I drove past a petrol station selling it in Shropshire yesterday) and the link is in the title of the song rather than the artist's name

If this track isn't guessed within the next few days I'll post a final clue which will almost certainly give it away Smile

Oh that's stretching it a bit Graham but I like the way you're thinking Smile

The track I am looking for was a top ten song in the late part of the last century and is quite well known for a particular reason but I'll save that for the final clue as it will give it away

No sorry Angel - to be honest I haven't heard of that particular brand of fuel

I did drive past a garage this morning and realised I could have used the track 'Her Latest FLAME' but I think it might be just outside the 50 year limit - or I suppose I could have used any track by The FLAMing Lips' or even 'Eternal FLAME'

And funnily enough I was reading some stuff about Billy Bragg and apparently he released a download single about 10 years ago called 'This GULF between Us' Smile

Anyway, I digress - this final clue should give it away

The late 90's track I'm looking for is probably best known for the fact that the lyrics include a slightly rude word Shocked

I'm afraid I've not been able to take part in this one because I now only do about 6000 miles a year, and living in a rural area I have to use the only petrol station that is available within 6 square miles.
In fact I don't even know what brand my local garage sells! I just fill up and pay! And I've not heard of most of the ones mentioned here!

I'm still living in the world of Shell, Esso, BP and Green Shield stamps.

Well Schiz if you're living in that sort of era you would definitely remember the brand I'm looking for so it's just a question of hitting on the right track Smile

Yes Santa, you're right and well done Angel for guessing the correct track

I suppose that's really a joint effort so Angel you really need a spare glass of champagne to give to Santa so I just wondered whether you had worked out how the 'Police' track fits this link Smile

I'll give you a clue - spell the thing out aloud and it might help

Luckily I don't think Santa is much of a drinker when it comes to alcohol so I'm sure he'll settle for a nice cup of tea Laughing

Anyway over to you for the next one

Ess O

I assume that the latest link is nothing as simple as girls names Smile

You're on the right lines, Ruddles, with girls' names, but there's a bit more to it than that.

If so am I looking for another female name for the fourth track?

GAIL - Clifford T Ward
TRACEY - Cuff Links

Michelle - Beatles
Lovely RITA Meter Maid - Beatles

SYLVIA - Focus
Can't Get You Out of my Head - KYLIE Minogue

If none is right I'm wondering whether I've hit on the right character amongst that list Smile

Oh dear Angel - I'm struggling here - I used to watch the show regularly in the 80's but now I only see clips of it occasionally

How about

Little EVA - The Locomotion
Somewhere Over the Rainbow - EVA Cassidy
FAde to Gray - Visage
DiANNE - The Bachelors
Snowbird - ANNE Murray

You can tell I'm getting desperate now Laughing

Oh dear, Ruddles, you seem to have mentioned every character except the one I'm looking for. The track was a hit in the 70s by a singer who made an appearance at Glastonbury a few years ago.

Sorry, Ruddles, still not the right character. Sad

You might remember this character being born in the back of Don Brennan's cab on Christmas Eve 1990.

The track is from 1970 by a singer who was also known as a songwriter for other people in the 1960s.

To be honest I don't remember that Angel - I didn't watch the programme much around that time

More in hope than expectation I'll try

ROSIE - Don Partridge

I doubt it's right as I think it was released before 1970 but it's the only thing I can think of Smile

Right character, Ruddles, but wrong song. The song reached No. 3 in December 1970.

Well done Schiz -I did eventually work out the right answer but sadly too late

I certainly went all round the houses on that one and I don't think I can recall a link with so many possible answers for the fourth track - the words 'needle' and 'haystack' spring to mind Laughing

Anyway I don't think you'll find quite as many options for the next link

I'm Leaving It All Up to You - Donny and Marie Osmond
Superwoman - Karen White
Long Live Love - Olivia Newton John

What's the link please? Smile

Ok Angel here's a few more tracks which fit the link

Life's Been Good - Joe Walsh
Ernie (the Fastest Milkman in the West) - Benny Hill
Walking on Sunshine - Katrina and the Waves
Stay Beautiful - Manic Street Preachers

This is not an easy link and if it still doesn't click with the extra tracks I'll try to come up with a further clue but it's difficut without giving the answer away Smile

Well so far not even any guesses - I think I just might have got you all stumped on this one

Obviously your natural built in sat nav must be leading you up numerous blind alleys so I reckon you'd be better off consulting a good old fashioned map Smile

Oh, and by way of further help a few more clue tracks

Rain Or Shine - Five Star
The Shield and the Sword - Clare Maguire
Come On Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners
Young Girl - Gary Puckett and the Union Gap

Come on folks - you've now had eleven clue tracks - many more than I usually give - someone come up with the answer Smile

Well Schiz as I tried to suggest in one of the earlier clues we're looking at a geographical type of link

I can't believe with so many clue tracks that nobody has yet worked out this one

There's not a great deal more I can say without giving it away but I'll try and think of some further information which might point you in the right direction

In the meantime do as I suggested and get your map out Smile

No sorry Schiz - it's something you would see if you look at a map of the UK

No good looking around your neck of the woods - you need to be further North Smile

I just can't believe that nobody has guessed this link yet so a further clue - you need to be thinking about one of the four countries which make up the British Isles and then think about what you might see looking at a map of that country

I just wonder whether this might be the first link on here where there are no correct answers - so come on folks prove me wrong Smile
