A really sad story - I know he'd had his own brush with the law recently and I guess he simply felt he had nothing to carry on living for

I think we all feel sympathy for blind people but it must be a whole lot worse to lose your sight in the way that it happened with this poor man as compared with someone who has been blind from birth

I'm a firm believer in the theory that everyone's life is basically mapped out for them and whilst someone can make positive choices to try to alter their fate in reality all they succeed in doing is postponing the inevitable

Perhaps he was intended to die as a result of the original incident but cheated death at that time against what was intended for him

Some people might find some of my views rather far fetched but I firmly believe in the power of fate in such cases

Many years ago I knew a woman who suffered years of violent abuse from her partner and eventually one day after they became estranged he hid in her garden shed overnight and the following morning stabbed her seven times and amazingly she survived and was taken to hospital

Two days later she was placed in an ambulance to be moved to a larger specialist hospital and on the journey the ambulance collided with an oncoming lorry head on and she and all the other occupants of the ambulance were killed

It simply confirmed my previous thought that when your times up it's up and you simply can't buck what is intended

I guess it's a bit like if you set out on a road journey and travel on B Roads rather than using the Motorway - it takes a whole lot longer to reach your destination but eventually you still get to where you were supposed to Smile

It's a popularly held belief, Ruddles.
In wartime they used to refer to the bullet or bomb with your number on and there was not a lot you could do about it (although I suspect that the expression of such might not get you very far in the armed forces today).

The beauty is we all know the road we have travelled but the road ahead could disappear, or veer off anywhere, at any moment. As Paul McCartney and countless others have said in song, what's the use of worrying about it (No use). Ignorance is bliss (except where the law is concerned of course)
