A rather sensationalist headline and just about what I would expect from the British press

This is really not a big deal - VAT is chargeable only on hot takeaway food and not cold food and this simply brings bakers and other food outlets into line with what has applied to other takeaways for several years if they choose to sell hot food

Of course if people want to avoid the charge the answer is to buy the items cold and warm them up either in their home or work microwaves

It's not exactly rocket science just common sense Rolling Eyes

Just back from Cornwall, where, after some early morning surfing on my own yesterday, (I was freezing) Hubby arrived with a brace of All Day Breakfast Pasties, at hot as you like- it was the taste of heaven, wrapped in delicious pastry. I’m not sure if we paid tax or not, but then again, I don’t care- what’s a few extra pennies for something so yummy!
