Richard Madeley has just tweeted that from next week he takes over the 11am to 1pm Sunday slot on R2.

Richard Madeley ‏ @richardm56

Been asked to host my favourite R2 prog for next few months. Always loved it since Parkinson launched it. The 11 - 1 Sunday 'brunch' slot.

Doesn't matter to me as I long ago wrote off the possibility of getting any decent output from Radio Two on weekend mornings and this doesn't change the situation Sad

Talk about dumbing down. Where the great Parky once tread we now get Madeley playing bland music and talking rubbish for two hours. Radio Caroline is much better at that time.

Oooh. This could be quite good. I think Richard M on Sunday will be perfect. The Wogan Show never really clicked at that time and that Bobby Ball chap-well, he never said, Rock on Tommy, once. Yeah like it- a good place to be.

Apparently he has other commitments. TV ads for double-glazing, I think.

I rather enjoyed Richard when he did at least one last year so will give it a listen no doubt. At least we should get a paper review which I used to enjoy. Hope they get the regulars back like Gillian Reynolds and I forget the guys' names.

Sadly I think everything is dumbed down from what it used to be but I think it applies to more than just R2.

Michael Ball couldn't do it as he's got commitments to Sweeney Todd.

Now I'm worried we might never see or hear him again Laughing

Richard used to enjoy listening to Parky too. Do we get a free pen with this show? Laughing

Is that a bribe to get us to listen to it?

Doesn't seem to worry EP, does it? I wish a I had a boss that would let me take time off like that.

I listened to a bit of Madeley on catch up. The music was very Parky like which was good, but I can live without the "Send in your tips on making gravy" routine

Richard Madeley returns on Sunday 2nd June for 10 weeks. Nick Duncarlf will be doing the movie review every week too. Wonder what good movies there will be over the summer.

I think you mean Nick Duncalf Mark - he is a very distant relative of my late former mother in law and has written a book about the history of the Duncalf family Smile

I like Nick Duncalf - he's done movie reviews on the Arts show for years, and of course does the travel occasionally (like yesterday).
