Ashleigh & Pudsey... Half a million quid! And let's face it, the dog could care less! Ashleigh, apart from a few bones .. It's all yours! Simon Cowell was lucky the dog didn't lick his chest. Laughing

Well this is one reality show winner that we won't have to listen to on the radio. Wink

Saw the winner for the first time as the result was announced last night and loved the dog.

And with that series over (thankfully) it's only a matter of time before the other of Mr. Smug's creations (the X-Factor) is foist upon us. I avoid all this factory-fodder stuff like the plague but it's very difficult to avoid completely all the cross-promotion and media sycophancy that goes with it.

I am rather pleased to be able to say "I haven't got a clue what you're talking about" when people refer to the BGT winner, so I'm obviously doing something right!

I haven't watched it either until we were channel flicking last night and literally saw the winner being announced. I'd read about Pudsey in the paper though.

It says a lot about the rest of the talent though don't you think! Time to shelve the show methinks..............

It was time to shelve the show several years ago along with all the other c---p which Colin referred to which these days passes for alleged 'entertainment' Rolling Eyes

Like others, I can't stand the current craze for 'humiliation television' that has taken over our screens - I think this is the modern equivalent of fairground freak shows or watching people get torn apart by wild animals in an arena. Having said all that.... once the early stages are over (all those close-up shots of young people's dreams being shattered, mentally ill people being paraded on stage to be publicly derided and ridiculed) the final stages of the show does have some merits....
The act that came second was a boy and girl performing opera. The act that came third was a Welsh male-voice choir of around 140 lads. Both acts were truly superb, and will probably go on to great things. There were a couple of other acts that involved budding singer-songwriters performing their own (very good) material. All very credit-worthy, and actually good to watch.
But , oh, the delicious irony! The whole thing was won by a dancing dog!

Even though I've seen only a few seconds of the winning act (on news programming) I have to agree with you. What's even more amusing is that this is an act that Mr. Smug can't really exploit in the way he has with many other winners (indicating that BGT and X-factor are merely auditioning aids for his own management company).
