Kenny Dalglish has been sacked as Manager of Liverpool FC. It was his second time he has joined the club. In a statement he thanks the owners and fans - and suggested that he is willing to still help the club in some way. |

As a Liverpool fan since 1965 I am really sorry that the club chose to get rid of Kenny in the way that they did - I think it would have been better to leave the decision to him
Rebuilding any club like Liverpool is a five year project at the very minimum - you only have to look how long it took Man United to achieve success after they appointed the current manager in 1986 to see that
Having said that I think the club made some bad signings including Downing, Henderson and Carroll who was a panic buy when Torres left so suddenly but the club had a seperate person responsible for transfer activity who resigned about a month ago and Kenny cannot really be blamed for that position
I think the fans would have wanted to give the manager more time and the sacking is purely down to the America owners who felt that the club got negative publicity from the Suarez incident with that idiot who plays for Man United - I think Kenny handled that issue in entirely the right way but in the currently politically correct society with which we are stuck it was seen as 'against the rules'
As to a possible successor my ideal choice would be Paul Lambert but as I also have had quite a close connection with Norwich City for many years as a Liverpool fan I would feel very guilty about taking their manager away from them
Perhaps the recently retired former manager of Barcelona can be tempted to get back into football at the right price and of course the pressure on him would be far less with Liverpool in their current position as compared with Barcelona
There is also talk of Roberto Martinez taking over and while he is a great manager I'm not entirely sure he's quite ready for such a high pressure position
It will be interesting to see who takes over but whoever it is I just hope the owners recognise the size of the task involved to get the club back to the glory days of yesteryear _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

It won't happen but Wenger would suit liverpool
the fans would love his style of football
Kenny's interviews were apalling and i think he let both he and the club down.
Have a massive soft spot for liverpool and would love to get on the Kop.Bit hard from Lowestoft _________________ I found out how you can hurt an insect. It's the bees knees |

Why don't they sack the whole team rather than just the manager? After all, it's the team out there on the pitch that's responsible for kicking the ball between those wooden posts right down at the far end.
Premiereship football is so full of BS, isn't it? I guess that's why I really couldn't care less....... |

In a way I do agree with you about the Premier League Colin
I often prefer to watch matches in the lower leagues just like tonight when I'm watching quite a good play off match between Southend United and Crewe Alexandra
I sometimes go to watch games at Shrewsbury and have seen some great matches there - they got promoted to Division One for next season _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Whoever the new manager is, the same players will still be trying to kick the ball around the field in the same way. |

Ressults were never good enough, team could be good enough, so manager's tactics wrong?
I agree with littlepieces, Kenny was a disaster on TV.
Firstly, it cannot be 'club first' when the club is wrong. The Suarez stance was stubborn stupidity. I notice the 'Pool communications manager got the sack too!
Secondly, I'm Scottish and I just cringe to hear Kenny talk - I can talk like that too Kenny, in a pub in Falkirk, but not to 20 million English viewers again stubborn 'n' stupid.
I first heard a video of myself talking in 1987, talking about Jaguar cars! and it's really odd when you cannot understand your own voice! With a career working in England and USA planned out for me for 35 years I had to do something about it! No I didn't go to elocution lessons, but I did listen to professional broadcasters, and taught myself 'English'. Much like Billy Connolly and Gordon Strachan did
Yes I've still got an 'accent' can't change completely listen to my latest podcast _________________ -

I gather the name of David Moyes is somewhere in the frame
Now that really would put the cat amongst the pigeons _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Very strange decision. Given time he would have succeeded.
If only Andy Carroll's second 'goal' in the FA Cup Final had been allowed, Liverpool would have gone on to win the game and Kenny would still be in the job having won the FA Cup and the Carling Cup. Not bad. The ball was nine tenths over the line and surely should have stood.
I guess though that it was Liverpool's appalling league position and recent form that got him the sack.
I met Kenny and his family once, a very polite and charming man.
As for David Moyes, everybody seems to rate him but what has he won? |

The problem is that Liverpool have spent over £100 million pounds signing very mediocre players with the exception of Suarez and Enrique
David Moyes has had only about a tenth of that figure to spend but has got much better value for the money he has spent and the same can be said about Newcastle
How on earth the likes of Downing and Carroll deserve to be in the England squad is totally beyond me even as a Liverpool fan when players like Grant Holt and Peter Crouch are far more in form and have certainly scored far more goals but still get left out _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |
