For some time now I have not been tuned into radio 2. The format and presenters have not been to my taste.

I have listened to a number of interesting programmes on 4 one being the life of Bob Dylan, which I feel would not have gone amiss on radio 4.

To-day I listened to Feed back on radio 4 Only to discover that the Chris Evans show was running a competition for children UNDER 13 to write a short story of 500 words. I applaud the children for entering all 30,000 of them.

BUT does this not proove that the morning show is aimed more or less at children and under 20's rather than the older age group which the music reflects

Any thoughts?

I think the children's writing competition has been mentioned before on another thread somewhere and whilst I applaud the fact that such a competition exists it should not be a main feature of a prime time show on Radio 2 which is claimed to be a network for the over 30s

And yes it does tell me that the breakfast show has it's priorities totally wrong but until they change the presenter I can't really see much else changing

Try listening to The Golden Hour on Smooth - far superior in every aspect apart from the adverts

Radio 2 is most definitely being aimed at a younger audience which I think is ridiculous. There are already more than enough stations that cater for them.

I saw Johnnie Walker a couple of weeks ago on his Musical Milestones tour and he said the same thing and seems just to have resigned himself to it. There isn't anything we can do seemingly to stop it becoming even worse.

I'll listen to Feedback when I've a minute and thanks for the link.

Feedback is a must-listen, and I get the Podcast. Radio 4 Extra is getting a bit of a kicking lately, but it's interesting that station's controller took the comments on board and has changed things.

As for Evans, as I said at the time, I suspect the main listeners to the Breakfast Show (and Drivetime) are families, and the writing contest was probably a fun thing for parents to do with their kids.

I may have been half asleep when I listened to Feedback last week but I am sure that Roger Bolton said that he would be interviewing the head of Radio 1 this week on how he aims to attract a younger audience. Presumably this will have a knock on effect on Radio 2 to the detriment of wrinklies like me.

Chris moyles took a bashing on twitter last week for some football commentry he did.He can be funny but does seem to have a very big ego.As mentioned on other posts i do find myself listening to R4 extra and only listen to R2 at nights

I hardly listen to radio 2 any more. I feel it is not on the wave length of its listeners. I dont think it will change. If you listen to the out going director general on the hash up the BBC made of the Jubilee on radio and TV his word were..............it was the weather and he would give the coverage 8 out of 10.

What planet is he living on?.

Years ago one person presented a programm and did it very well. Now, most programms have two or three people in the presentation...and they are worse.
