Richard Allinson is really excellent in his weekend shows in playing lots of good new music from new artists etc.

Whilst not completely new, listen out for the group, Blue October, and the haunting track, The Feel Again (Stay).

Have to say the YouTube video for the above song is chilling to say the least-the singer seems to be in pain-watch it if you dare!

Absolutely fantastic to hear Richard Allinson playing the track last Sunday "Don't jump of the roof, Dad" by the late, great Tommy Cooper.

Don't think I have ever heard this song played before on Radio 2.

I've never even heard of it Mark so I doubt it's been played on any mainstream station in recent years

I did really like good old Tommy Very Happy

I'm sure it has been played at least once on Sounds of the Sixties.
No real reason why it should be played at any other time - awful record, awful man, by all accounts. I never found him that funny - there was a repeat of an early Parkinson recently with him as guest; a couple of iffy sleight of hand tricks and a lot of just mucking about.

Actually I can see what you're saying Ron

I never really found Tommy funny when I was growing up in the sixties and early seventies - and I didn't get to see much of him on television because he was mainly on ITV and my parents thought that ITV had dubious standards when it came to broadcasting and didn't like me watching it

It was only years later when I began to appreciate the nature of the Cooper humour - very amateurish, unpolished and really just like many people we all know in everyday life - he wasn't really a proper comedian or a proper magician - just a larger than life character who had the knack of connecting with ordinary working people Smile

I think a few professional types would disagree with you there Ruddles.. I would too! Razz
I'm quite surprised by a few opinions here... both on Tommy's act and the song Laughing

What is "a proper comedian or a proper magician"? Someone who had a certificate to say they were? I understand that Cooper was a very good "magician" when he was in the Army, but given that he often made some silly cock-ups which always got a laugh, he made it part of his act. That's my understanding of the way it was, but maybe I'm wrong. Did I find him funny? Definitely!

Good to hear the "Rich list" has been brought back as a feature of the weekend shows.

Oh well, at least one person will be happy about this. I personally have no idea what his Rich list is all about but I'm guessing it's a list of people called Richard.

So,

1. Richard Burton
2. Richard Gere
3. Richard Nixon
4. Richard III
5. Richard Pryor
6. Richard Wagner
7. Richard Branson
645,000,541. Richard Allisnson

Is he still doing that imaginary line through the Uk thing...is he still playing Dido/Santana/Steely Dan/Todd Rundgren etc on every show.

No need for me to bother tuning in then!!
