Bernie Eccleston has again proposed to stage Formula One round London. He wants to stage the £35 million event which will go past landmarks in the capital.

It will take some time to set up with safety measures. Hopefully congestion charge will be lifted for that day.. |

You could insert the words "could be" into your subject line, Mark. As it stands it's in the past tense. |

I don't care much for F1 and I'm not overkeen on London so as far as I'm concerned the two probably deserve each other _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I like F1 (although I'n not at all pleased with the deal that was struck between short-arse Ecclestone and the Murdoch Mafia) and I like London, but Silverstone is a racing circuit and London's streets are definitely not a racing circuit.
I wish Ecclestone would take a hike. |

Hmmm how much street furntiure and kerbs will nee removing or made temporary?
If there is a serious accident or fatality on the first race then I expect the event will be scrapped.
There was a Formula 3000 in Birmingham in the 1980s

Some roundabouts in the city look very untidy now as they were never restored back to their proper condition. _________________ -

You can see it in Monaco. I was working there again recently, and there are permanent signs of the annual GP event. All the removable barriers have permanent fixings and everything on or adjacent to the "track" is designed to be moved. The kerbs are red and white, angled, and are covered in tyre marks. Road markings are at a minimum, and those that exist can be easily removed. In the tunnel, which runs from the Mirabeau corner (normally a roundabout) underneath the Fairmont Hotel through to the harbour, you can see where the barriers bolt into place on both sides throughout its length. The main entrance to the convention centre which forms part of the Fairmont is completely obscured by barriers and protective hoardings.
A couple of years ago, I sat at an outdoor cafe which sits exactly where the pits are situated during the GP (the proprietor told me that it's a condition of his lease that he can occupy the site only 11 months of the year). The speed at which the whole of the principality is transformed for the GP and then restored afterwards is staggering, but obviously they've had a lot of practice!
In contrast, the idea of a London event is not only a gimmick but also completely daft! The cost of converting all the roadways into safe, high-speed raceway, would be astronomical. and totally impractical. |

Does he use it as a "Drive Thru" for the other month? ( "Spee D Service" ) _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07
