I wouldn't. Not a chance in hell!!! But this couple from Suffolk saw fit to do exactly that. Will they live to regret it? I have a horrible feeling they will......

I agree - I wouldn't do it quite simply because by doing so you make yourself a target not only for the predictable begging letters and e mails but for robbery, kidnapping and a whole series of other possible crimes - not to mention putting youself at the mercy of the disgusting British press

How could anybody send begging letters to people they don't even know.. even if they did just get a hundred and forty eight million quid for nothing?

I'd certainly try to keep it a secret but it would be hard to do that when a couple of Porsches and Ferraris appear on my drive and I'm spending most of my time in the Bahamas and the South of France.
I'd probably celebrate with a pizza, as this couple did. |

| I'd probably give most of it to charity. Once you get to a point where you don't need any more money, there's no point having any more money- just bigger numbers on your bank statements. Winning that much wouldn't change where we live or what we do, life is already sweet. I'd quite like to set up a nice hostel for local homeless people- get them back on thier feet and back into a life. |

In a small town where they live someone would have found them out sooner
than later. It's best to have it out in the open now. Hopefully they spend the money wisely. |

Yes, I've often thought that I'd like to set up a charitable trust to support the establishment of more social enterprises and aimed at people of all ages. I'm very much involved with an existing local heritage charity - one which helps people of all ages to develop skills in the use of digital media technologies through local and community history research - and I'd very much like to guarantee its operation for as long as possible.
I'd definitely donate a huge chunk of money (assuming that won what those people in Suffolk won!!) to Cancer Research and also towards research into Scoliosis, with which our daughter was diagnosed when she was 14.
Come to think of it, as Rachel says, it's only money and I don't really need £148million! £148 would be welcome, actually! |

I'd be inclined to seek no publicity for as long as possible. You would otherwise never know who your real friends were. It would probably become public knowledge at some point, though, whether I wanted it to or not.
Re spending, I'd build and financially maintain a community theatre in the town where I live and give a large sum to several charities. And, yes, I'd probably get a new car!

Yes I also agree Rach - I think once someone gets to the point where they can buy absolutely anything they want it can actually be very depressing for them because we all need something to look forward to and in those circumstances that aspect completely disappears
