Ian Brady has revealed the location of one his victims, 12-year-old Keith Bennett. A 49 year old women which is believed to be a long term visitor of Brady has been arrested on suspicion of unlawful burial

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-19292164

_____________

I hope searches will find some clues or the body. Keith Bennett mother is suffering and needs answers. There is supposed to be a letter which isn't allowed to be opened until his death. He shouldn't have rights for letters like that to be kept sealed.

He hasn't "revealed the location of the body". He has allegedly passed details of the location of the body to his legal advocate, who has been representing him since 1999.

Does anyone else share my concern that this could all be a hoax?

Ian.

Yep. I think Brady's playing a game in order to get a transfer from a secure mental health unit to a regular prison. Just a hunch, though!!

Not sure Ian, but remember when they tried to locate it the last time in the mid 80s in the middle of winter.

The parable of the needle and the haystack comes to mind.

Freezing cold constable to senior investigating officer: "Where do we look, boss?"

Boss: "Up there on the Moor, where do you think?".

It's a horribly bleak place Colin, even on a bright summer's day.

Yes, I've driven across the moor a few times when I worked for a company that had its northern England office in Altrincham. Having lived in Devon, on the edge of Dartmoor, for many years I know how changeable the conditions on moors can be so I don't envy any of those who have taken part in the searches.

That poor boy would have been about 60 by now. His parents must be very elderly if they are still alive. What a painful life they led after their son's murder and never being able to give him a proper burial.

His elderly mother survives and has terminal cancer, according to BBC Breakfast news this morning, Eileen. She just needs closure - and pretty quickly, by all accounts.

I don't know if anyone really should believe this control freak. He probably doesn't know where the body was buried - let alone I would trust him walking me across the road.

I very much doubt whether Brady would remember the exact spot where the body was located after all these years

Any possible letter suggesting a location would realistically only be of any value if the same had been written no later than say about 1975

If the alleged letter is only very recent it is of no value and probably is the subject of a publicity stunt by a very evil human being who clearly has no regard for anyone Mad

As I said " I can't believe a letter is sealed and will be opened on his death, which will tell the story" This letter should be found and opened. It's not as if he's going to receive an longer sentence, as he's in prison for life.. I know human rights and good lawyers are keeping him alive, because he's on hunger strike. That's another part of his controlling. We should just take the feeding tube out and let him die. ( I do apologise if thats harsh )

So, Mark, he murdered kids but you think he'd be OK in the company of older people?

Hasn't some daring lawyer not suggested that the 'letter' is a case of 'withholding evidence'? Rolling Eyes

The latest news is that the Keith Bennett's mother has now died. How sad, considering that she desperately wanted closure before she died:

Very sad news Winnie Johnson has died. I don't think she knew of this new information which came to light.

I never said that. I will yet again say " Ian Brady is a control freak " He's liking all this attention.

Yes she did. The fact that she was terminally ill was what prompted BBC Breakfast to interview her on Thursday. She pleaded with Brady to divulge whatever he could while there was time.

BTW: There is no new "information" as such - just speculation and time-wasting on Brady's part.

Winnie Johnson didn't know of this letter and arrest of someone. Her family didn't want to tell her as she was very ill. I led to believe the interview was done some time ago...

Mark is correct on both counts ...I heard on the news that she wasn't told of the letter as it was deemed she had suffered enough and was too ill to be able to cope with it,anyway ...and it's here in The Guardian http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/aug/18/winnie-johnson-keith-bennett-dies?newsfeed=true... the interview was done in December 2011, not last Thursday ..this was also said on the news.

I sincerely hope Mrs Johnson now knows some peace.

That poor woman Sad such a tragic story.
I know it sounds a bit corny but I hope she is at peace with her beloved son.
