It's been 15 years since Princess Diana has died. Where we you at the time? I just switched on the Radio and couldn't believe what I heard, then switched on the TV. |

I remember it very well because at the time my former wife and I were staying at a hotel in North Devon and my stepdaughter then aged 15 fell asleep the previous night leaving the shower running and by 4am we were awoken by the proprietors not because of the fact that their kitchen resembled a swimming pool but because of the news about Princess Diana
Naturally I offered to pay for any damage from the flood but the owners said it didn't matter and what had happened in Paris meant anything else was really unimportant and trivial - they were great fans of Diana
I hope that any media coverage of the anniversary reflects the fact that it was the media themselves who were instrumental in bringing about the sad outcome - but knowing the media as I do no doubt they will either gloss over the whole thing or try to blame someone else _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

I found the wailing in the streets and so on afterwards very bizarre indeed. She was a nice lady but not the saint many still make her out to be. |

The paper boy told me as he dropped off that morning's issue at my house, and I shouted "you're a damn liar" as he cycled away down the street. |

That made me smile Ian.
I remember arriving at the office at work and telling all the girls who were distraught. _________________ -

I was at home and husband read it on Teletext first thing and told me when I got up. We went on holiday on the Tuesday and were in America for the next 2 weeks. The day of the funeral the beach was deserted.
I was glad we were away and I got fed up with Americans giving me condolences so I adopted a bit of an American accent in the end as it made life a bit easier!
Like Toggy I found it all a bit bizarre.

I still feel angry at all the criticism of the Queen for failing to rush back to London when she was in shock and turmoil and looking after her bereaved grandsons, which had to be her first priority. |

I thought that was awful as well Eileen. What good would it have done for her to be in London?

I switched on the radio and every station was playing really depressing music. My first reaction was "Jeez, has somebody died?". It was ridiculous. Heaven knows what it will be like when Liz or Phil snuffs it. |

No idea what the Global plan is but the BBC have an 'Obit 1' list which consists of:
The Queen
Prince Phillip
Prince Charles
Prince William |

I thought the mass hysteria and outpouring of grief both here and abroad was a bit over the top and rather unjustified, though it was a horrible death and she was a lovely lady. And as for those ridiculous conspiracy theories about the Fiat Uno apparently seen next to the car.....
Five words sprang to my mind at the time: drunk driver; no seat belt. |

15 years ago we didn't have all this celebrity hype like Big Brother and X Factor extra. I think she bought the country together. I'm sure once the Queen and Philip goes it will be the same, but will the grief be as big? |

When The Queen and her hubby go the grief will not be anything like that which accompanied The Princess of Wales'. Their deaths will be natural and expected.
I suppose Diana's death did make us a bit less inhibited as a nation which can only be a good thing. |

Conspiracy theory to how she came to a tragic end will always keep being debated. I feel for the boys still, but they have grown to be ( well one has sensible men ). I wonder what there mum would have thought of Prince Harry antics and those pictures? Probably laughed it off? |

Well, seeing as she spent the last few months of her life coked off her face on an extended beach holiday with disreputable people she'd probably think Harry's playing too safe |

There won't be any grief here. I'm not anti-monarchy (although i've been leaning that way especially since Diana was bumped off) but I am anti-hysteria, especially when it's all cranked up by the pro-establishment media.
The whole Diana "grief" thing was an embarrassing farce. |

Not having a go at Mark as this "story" was in all the papers and on various websites yesterday but how does someone dying in a car crash 15 years ago constitute news? |

Agreed, but there does seem to have been considerably less coverage than I'd have expected. Hopefully the Diana mania is fading away. |

It's been superceded by "Kate mania" now, it would seem. |

Now the holiday season is over see how many times Kate will be on the front page of the Daily Express and also the Daily Mail.I have no time for the royals but have to admire the queen for doing her duty _________________ I found out how you can hurt an insect. It's the bees knees |
