2012 Paralympic Games will be shown on Channel 4 and More 4. Five Live and 97.3 LBC will cover the games.

'Personally the flame shouldn't have been extinguished and wait until a combined closing ceremony?

Lets enjoy when it begins on the 29th August.

The Opening ceremony looking impressive so far. We should be proud what these athletes are going to achieve.

Ludwig Guttman would have been inordinately proud of all the athletes who have taken part in these 2012 Paralympic games in London ..... ...they say from small acorns mighty oak trees grow and these games prove that old adage exquisitely.

The gamesmakers are going round this morning in the Olympic City with signs saying "Free Hugs!" ....maintaining the happy atmosphere to these events to the very end.

Dave (Weirwolf) Weir is going for his 4th gold today in the marathon.... ..makes me tired just to think of it .....Very Happy "Go Dave"...

He would indeed. My work takes me to the impressive sports facility at Stoke Mandeville regularly and a few weeks before the start of the Olympics I was in the new Ludwig Guttman building. It's very impressive.

If he were able to make a brief appearance back at Stoke Mandeville now he'd be shocked at how things have come on since his time there.

BTW - that TV drama that was on last weekend was odd in that the building used to represent the hospital is absolutely nothing like the real thing. The whole point about Stoke Mandeville was that it expanded from a small pre-war cottage hospital into a big sprawling mass of temporary buildings. In the TV drama it depicted it as a nice big country mansion-style hospital with cloisters and everything. A very odd choice!

Paralympics draw to a close. Hopefully attidudes towards disabilty has changed? Both the Olympics and Paralympics have been great to watch. Can't believe it's all over. Hopefully the legacy will move on and maybe more coverage of disability sports.

Now it's all back to doom and gloom with the Economy, Euro currency and Tories, Liberals and Labour fighting with eachother...

... plus the fight to stop our wonderful Coalition Government from trying to ease planning decisions, building an expensive high speed train route through precious countryside etc.

Also the plan whether the third runway will become a feature of Heathrow airport and if Boris Johnson will become an MP. Laughing

It's not doom and gloom where I'm sitting, and my eye has been on sleezy coalition politics throughout the games.

In other words, situation normal!

I don't know why the "Boris as MP" issue is remarkable. He was MP for Henley before running in the London Mayor contest anyhow. The only reason he might to rejoin the Commons is to be there when the party leadership challenge mounts - immediately after the next general election.
