I am just over halfway through this book which is the first in a trilogy by Swedish writer Stieg Larsson, translated into English by Reg Keeland.
It is a crime thriller but saying that is an injustice as it is so much more. It covers politics, journalism, family dynamics, an extraordinary girl researcher, vivid characters and an investigation to discover a serial killer with crimes going back decades.
The author who wrote the trilogy unfortunately died suddenly at the age of 50 before the books were even published.
I know that there is a film version which some of you may have seen but I don't intend to see it. |

I have just finished the second book in the trilogy (The Girl Who Played with Fire) and started the final one (The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest).
Phew! If you want a good read which will keep you engrossed until the early hours, these books are for you! |

Finished the third in the trilogy at 11am this morning - then I got up! Fantastic. It was a sequel to the second book and came to a satisfactory conclusion but I now feel quite bereft!
The Swedish author never knew what a hit he had written as he died quite young and not long after he had handed the three manuscripts to his publisher. |

I got the book out of the library a while ago,Eileen, but it didn't grab me straightaway then I saw the film (the Swedish version) of it advertised on the TV and I succumbed to that. ..it was a tough watch at times but it kept my attention throughout..the book went back to the library unfinished...
His will still hasn't been sorted out ......

I enjoyed the trilogy too. I've seen the Swedish film version of the first book but not the Hollywood one starring Daniel Craig. |

I saw the Daniel Craig version a few weeks ago and it is very good. The girl who played Lisbeth Salander is much better than in the Swedish one.
However the second and third books haven't been filmed yet and I think they are waiting for D.Craig"s availability. |
