Radio Rewind the History Of BBC Radio 1 and 2 seems to have vanished. Does anyone know the reason for this? Hope Alan is ok? Or with recent events it's been taken down temporary? |

Well I doubt very much that Alan would have removed it himself simply because of the Savile story and other associated events
It is of course possible that the BBC has clamped down on his site as there was quite a fair amount of Savile material on there but probably no more than Kenny Everett and other high profile former presenters
I recall having a discussion with Alan a couple of years ago when he did mention that running the site was quite expensive for him so it could simply be down to pure economics but whatever the reason may be I really hope the site reappears as items on there have always been of great interest to me and I would be really sorry to lose it - quite apart from which Alan is a really dedicated radio buff and a very nice and helpful person _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

This is sad news. I have looked at it a few times recently. Not least to remind myself how the signature tunes of various shows went (and what they were) I hope that it's loss is only temporary and that it will re-appear sooner rather than later. It would seem rather ironic if it's disappearance were to be as a result of some kind of 'clamp down' when the BBC were appealing to those who have made recordings of various shows recently to use in their 90th anniversary celebration shows! _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |

Sadly the site is offline at the moment due to the Savile (and other DJ) unfolding events. Alan is undecided as to whether to bring it back at some point or to re-write part of it. Personally I'd love to see it back on line. |

That's a shame.

So far only the Radio 2 bit, so it seems you can't yet re-live your youth by listening to those 1970s Radio 1 roadshow clips! I do hope they return some time soon. _________________ Lord Evan Elpuss, Your ideal job is a Lumberjack. |
