After a month of serious brain racking the only track from that era I can come up with is

'Don't Call Me Baby' by MADISON Avenue

I remembered that only because I used to have a Siamese cat whose name was 'Baby' and every time that track came on the radio she used to think that someone was calling her Smile

Hi Ruddles

You've got it at last Very Happy

Sorry for the delay in replying - I've been away in Madeira, so you can have some virtual Madeira wine instead of champagne for a change Smile

Thanks Angel - hope you had a great holiday - funnily enough I played the track 'Don't Call Me Baby' by 'Voice of the Beehive' as part of my live link last Saturday - but I won't say any more as I might want to use it on here in the future

Anyway here's the next link - not too difficult I suspect

Fire - The Crazy World of Arthur Brown'
Stand and Deliver - Adam and the Ants'
If Not For You - Olivia Newton John

Whats the link please? Smile

Any chance of a clue with this one, Ruddles? I'm really stumped. Confused

Well Angel it might help you to think about a well known guitarist in a band from the Britpop era who had many hits - I've just remembered I must buy some new shoes tomorrow - just plain black leather ones will do - not those silly blue ones

Oh and whilst strictly speaking this does not form part of the actual link I think the following track might help you

'Crash The Wedding - Busted

Actually two clues in one in you think hard enough about it Smile Smile

Still struggling here. Britpop means (to me) The Smiths, Oasis, Blur, Manics, Suede, Verve but I can't think of too many guitarists from that lot which fit the clues.

Well Schiz - think about it - remember I was talking about getting some new shoes - proper leather ones rather than those blue ones - so from that you can probably deduce that I was referring to 'Blue Suede Shoes' so Suede was the Britpop band I was talking about

So now you need to work out the name of the guitarist who was a member of Suede and then think where you might have heard that name before - in something you've probably watched on TV

That name will fit in with the other clues Smile

Yes, I thought it was Suede from your shoes clue. Bernard Butler is/was Suede's guitarist so it's probably On The Buses. Trouble is I don't know any names from On The Buses apart from Blakey (without googling).

Or Brett Anderson as in Angry Anderson/Neighbours which I recall had a wedding, though again I know nothing about the soap opera.

You've got it Schiz - the actual link is characters in the TV series 'On The Buses' so well done

It's fairly obvious which character will be referred to in the fourth track in the link but there are very many tracks that fit the link so feel free to fire away with any guesses Smile

Sorry Schiz and Angel - all great guesses and as I expected you've got the right character

It might help you if I tell you that the track I am looking for was released in the 1970s by an artist who was well known for many hits in the sixties Smile

Jack In The Box by Clodagh Rogers? Though not sure she had many 60s hits.

Well done Schiz - a fairly dreadful Eurovision song back in the days when we used to win quite regularly

She did have many big hits in the late sixties - the best known probably being 'Come Back and Shake Me' and 'Goodnight Midnight- and the records show that she was the biggest selling female artist of 1969

Anyway enough of this music trivia - down your virtual glass of champagne and it's over to you for the next link Smile

Thanks Ruddles. To get the answer I consulted an excellent book I have with every top twenty since 1954. I browsed through the 70s and luckily the song was near the beginning, around 70/71 I think.

Will come up with a new one tomorrow.

You're dead right Schiz - I'm really struggling on this one

I was thinking along the lines Love, Eagle, Nelson - sporting terms but I can't see where the second track fits in so I'll have to have a rethink Sad

Sorry Schiz but I just cannot work out this one

Are you saying the link is with an organisation based near where you live in Sussex because I can't think of any well known ones based in that area apart from the RSPCA in Horsham - are we talking a well known one which the rest of us would have heard of Confused

Sorry Rudds, I meant not far from here, as in this forum.
Which means that Graham is indeed correct, well done.

The final one contains a current R2 presenter. It doesn't take (clue there) much to get the song and the artists.

Well Schiz - I imagine you're talking about a track by Take That but I just can't think of any of their tracks which links with the name of a R2 presenter

Can anyone help? Sad

No Rudds, nothing to do with Take That.

The song is from the late 60s by a Motown group who share a name with a Radio 2 presenter.

It took a while for the penny to drop but glad I got there in the end

I'm going to go with a new type of link I haven't used on here before - I reckon either it will go instantly or it could hang around for quite a while but I will provide clues if necessary -so get your brains in gear on this one

Cathy's Clown - Everly Brothers
Ooh Ah Just A Little Bit - Gina Gee
Goodbye To Jane - Slade

Best of Luck Smile

This is a music link Schiz - although obviously I regularly use music tracks to create links of all kinds this particular link is connected with a musical artist or artists - rather like the one you did a while ago about the Beatles

Don't really know what made me think about it - I suppose I was just rather bored being stuck in a massive traffic jam on the M6 just outside Carlisle a few months ago Smile

Well Done Schiz - you clearly took the clue as you probably know the way my mind works by now Smile

So if you've Googled it no doubt you will know the name I am looking for in the fourth track - not an easy one though Smile
