Very Happy
Sunday mornings are usually sedate affairs but not this one if you are a cricket fan and were watching/listening to the happenings over in Mumbai ...it was superb stuff from our lads ....

(Naughty boy)
Kevin Pietersen smashed a brilliant 186 and Monty Panesar took five wickets to leave England on the verge of victory over India in the second Test.....

It certainly was, Becky. I listened to most of it in bed, fitfully dozing now and again. Henry Blofeld's voice is not recommended if you have a headache and hangover. Great to have Monty back in the side, and also Pietersen doing what only he can...infuriate in one match, and delight in the next. Alastair Cook, captain extraordinaire.

The Australia/S Africa match looks like a cracker, as well.

Wasn't listening at the time,lp, but woke up to the brilliant news of our victory and am now listening to the highlights on 5 live sports extra

What a fantastic way to start the week!

India beaten in their own back yard at their own game says Henry Blofeld....(hope the head is better this morning, raver) Twisted Evil

After the match .....

Mahendra Dhoni admits "for most part of the game we were outplayed. Monty bowled really well, the pace at which he was bowling made it really uncomfortable. He was the major difference. Our spinners could have tried to bring their batsmen on to the front foot a little more. A target of 200 would have been decent, whether we would have won with that, we will never know."

Alastair Cook: "It was a tough week at Ahmedabad but the character we've shown this week has been fantastic. It was an important toss, but the way we bowled on the first day was fantastic, then Kevin took the game away from them. It was a great innings to watch from the other end. The way Swanny and Monty bowled in the India second innings was a brilliant performance. We get amazing support everywhere we go and to see so many English fans here means a lot."

Man of the Match: Kevin Pietersen..Asked about ranking the significance of his innings, he replied "Now that we've won, probably at the top; yesterday I said it was a situation where we needed to win the Test match and hundreds feel a lot better when you win. Panesar and Swann were outstanding in the second innings, and Cooky didn't talk about himself but he's a magnificent cricketer. He'll break every England record. We came to Mumbai, trained hard and worked hard. There's a good united spirit in the dressing room."

Meanwhile over in Oz ..."Debutant Faf Du Plessis defied Australia with a marathon century to earn South Africa a remarkable draw in the second Test in Adelaide"

Congratulations to Alastair Cook ..

For setting a record for England Test centuries with a composed unbeaten hundred on the second day of the third Test against India.

The prolific opener's 23rd Test ton took him past the mark of 22 jointly-held by Walter Hammond, Colin Cowdrey, Geoffrey Boycott and Kevin Pietersen.

Well done that man!

Poor Cookie, not even shortlisted for the Sports Personality of the year since it was hi-jacked from the genuine sports fan into the reality TV on-line lottery.
