There was a bit on Jezza yesterday about alcoholism and a campaign for not drinking during January, there was a sozzled sounding old sot of a journalist ( no not Jezza- some other hack) talking about giving up the booze for a month. The conversation got on to being T-total..... apparently Hitler was T-total, so that means, according to the chap yesterday, that all people whom don't drink are oddballs just waiting for their chance to take over the world and start exterminating people they don't like. I'm t-total, I'll start my extermination programme with drunken old hacks on the radio!....
Yesterday was very neary as good as the episode a while back where some other drunken old hack claimed that "the rat population had doubled under the last Labour Government".....
What a fantastic fact.
I love Jezza's show. |

I'm sure it must be very irritating for T Totallers to be automatically seen as having some kind of problem
Both my parents were in that category - they just didn't like the taste of alcohol and there's nothing wrong with that - mind you as I always say I've more than made up for them _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

Didn't catch that part of yesterday's show but heard him talking to Ken about it. The guy was Peter Oborne (Telegraph??).
In a way I can see where he is coming from as often total abstinence from anything is a way of trying to control your existence in the world.

I suppose I'd be classed as T Total as I don't drink at all.. apart from a weak Lager Shandy if we go out for a meal. I find the taste of any alcohol abhorrent.. ghastly stuff!
I gathered from the piece the idea was to make people aware an unhealthy reliance on alcohol can escalate without the subject taking it seriously.
The journalist said that he had realised he would find it impossible to go out for a meal at lunchtime without having at least three or four glasses of wine.. which to my T Total ears was... well, sad really.
The point about Hitler was tongue in cheek.. he suggested history might reveal that many worldly villains were T Totallers and their rivals, ie Churchill, were constantly pissed! he also mentioned Harold Wilson and GW Bush..
I do find it depressing that many of our younger folk seem to rely on drinking themselves stupid to achieve a "good night out" ruling out many other lines of entertainment... the bottom of the barrell is to get "Rat Arsed" _________________ Johnnie Walker read out my message on Pirate Radio! 13/8/07

I think giving not drinking alcohol a name is a bad thing. There's lots of things Ipeople don't do but if you don't drink it's seen as being a weakling. I won' be bullied into drinking stuff I don' t like. The reason people like that Peter chap say things like he did was to try to normalise his dependence on alcohol. It's people who drink too much that have a problem not people who don't drink. A fun night out for me is any thing that involves fish and chips, walking , then home for wild sex! |

Hey I'll tell you what - you might even persuade me to give up drinking for the odd night of wild sex - not sure about the fish and chips though - I'd probably settle for fillet of seabass instead _________________ Are you ready for a Ruddles? |

or even better, Fish & Chips, a reasonable walk... like to the litter bin, wild sex and then go home!

Ah an outdoor man: in a remote spot I think wild sex would be proper wild but I think I prefer somewhere warm and safe.
Today I'm writing a rousing speech to see if I can get mysef elected as a dictator- benevolent of course. |
