Didn't realise they got involved in sexual offences on Operation Yewtree - when do they find the time - it's no wonder people are losing confidence in the police Smile

On a more serious note what is it Mr Davidson used to say - something like Nick Nick - never realised he could forecast the future Shocked

Not really a laughing matter I suppose but I have this vision of baton waving "detectives" dressed as Jimmy Saville bursting into the room... "Now then, Now then..." Laughing Laughing

"High profile names being picked from the 60s upto 90s from women going to the police after thinking - ' oh yes, I have a photo of so and so and they cuddled me, so lets go and speak to the police and make claims on abuse or assault" - Max Clifford was right ' celebrities from that era must be worried if they will get a knock at the door' I'm guessing- the police along with the CPS have to draw a line under this at some stage as a small percentage of claims will be from attention seekers trying to get money, a lot of these high profile cases will attract them'

Richard Littlejohn is right. It's taken all this time for women to come forward and waiting for him Jim Davidson at Heathrow is crazy.

I read that this morning, Mark. He's spot on. It's all a PR exercise. The serious offenders - the ones that were in cahoots with Mr Jingly Jangly, remain untouched, while this Keystone Cops business gets more laughable with every new "arrest", of someone who may have grabbed a pair of boobs, back in the days when On The Buses was the top comedy show.

I saw a documentary last week about Freddie Mercury in which Paul Gambacinni said it was wrong to judge people of the past by today's (supposed) standards. How very true.

I saw Mike Read on TV a few weeks ago saying something similar, he was frightened of some witch hunt (that might snag him?) but if what occurred 30 years ago was illegal then, and still is now, then charges should be brought.

It's not quite a simple as that John from a legal point of view

The CPS has to decide by law whether any charges would be in the public interest and whether there is any realistic chance of securing a conviction before they bring charges against any individual

Clearly with the considerable length of time which has elapsed in these cases and the possible destruction of evidence or witnesses being dead it is by no means a straightforward task - my own view is that we should move on cognisant of historical wrongdoings - the most important thing is to put in place a system whereby such things can never happen in the future Sad

Yeah I see that ruddles. When it's just one word against another a successful prosecution, with no forensic evidence, is unlikely, it becomes no case to answer unless witnesses come forward, and even then witnesses evidence from decades ago has to be considered carefully.
