I agree that the Moody Blues track should have been on the list on the website on which people could have the chance to vote

Actually I've never come across a bad track by that band apart from 'Go Now' which wasn't actually that bad but nowhere near as good as the later stuff that followed Smile

'Question' is a good song but I suppose there were plenty of other number 2s which also could have been included. No room for them all.

Ruddles. I loved Go Now but agree their best stuff was in the later 60s, On The Threshold Of A Dream etc.

A total disgrace. BBC decided which records you could vote for and left off the Moody's biggest ever hit that remained No.2 for several weeks behind the England World Cup Squad and Mungo Jerry's "In the Summertime". Not bad for the title track of an album that remained at No.1 for 9 weeks and in the chart for almost a year. More people bought the album than the single........
It would have been nice if the BBC had listed ALL of the No.2's instead of thir chosen few. Mad

You can have too much choice - ask any man who has ever had to follow his wife around a large Marks and Spencer store in search of.... anything.

There are always arguments about seemingly worthy titles left off any list, but it is worth mentioning that Question was No 2 for just one week, and was much better heard in the context of the album from which it was taken (and edited)

I thought it was supposed to be no2s that would have been no1 but for a rubbish extremely popular novelty record. Many of the no2s played were no2 because they weren't good enough to be no1 that week- ( facts are stubborn things)no injustice there. One of them, I can't remember which, was held off no1 by Queen's Bo-rap. Held off no1 by Bo-rap!!!! Do me a favour sweetheart!!. It was a fab programme but the premis that history was going to be rewritten was complete tosh. It was a big fat lie to suck us in. The no2 s are still no2s and always will be.

As for the list- lists are just lists, they're never exhaustive, there's always something you miss off the list..... try having a party and writing a list of people to invite... see, now you know what I mean- there's always controversy with lists... if you were write a list of all controversial things- you’d never get it finished. You'd have to put the list on the list!

I didn't listen to the programme (not after I saw the results all over the internet before it was broadcast) so don't know if this one was featured on it....listening to a Vinyl Revival programme on 6 Music with Tom Jones the presenter of the programme read out a piece in the NME from 1968 stating "Bad news for Paul McCartney this week as he flew back from India to find that Delilah by Tom Jones had kept Lady Madonna off the top spot"

Macca was probably more bemused later in the year when a song that he produced, 'Those Were The Days' by Mary Hopkin, knocked his own 'Hey Jude' off the top spot.
