Speaking of Coffee, if you sign up for a Mywaitrose card on the waitrose website or get a leaflet with a temporary card from in store, you can have a free cup of coffee or tea ( drink in or take away) every day just for walking in and showing them the card. ( I don't think they serve that tea made from coffee stuff that is supposed to be good for you) Also you can get a free newspaper ( Telegraph or Mail) if you spend £5 or more on a visit. You also get the chance to win the cost of your shopping back each month. I’ve not spotted any catch yet. It’s not a loyalty card, it’s not a credit card, it’s just a free cup of coffee card as far as I can make out. You do of course have to tell them who you are and where you live along with your e-mail address , so I guess the catch is , you sell your soul to them for a cup of coffee but and here’s the thing, the temporary card lasts until 15th Feb, so you can have about 28 cups of coffee between now and then for nowt and without telling them a thing! Cool beans! Or Hot beans in the case of Coffee!

It's a wolf in sheep's clothing (or should that be the other way round?).
It's trying desperately hard NOT to be a loyalty card, and yet it was distributed to everyone who's bought online from JLP and rewards you if you go in and buy a drink or spend £5.

"MyWaitrose". Wasn't the M&S card originally called "Your M&S"?

Our nearest proper Waitrose is 20 miles away so the card will join the many other redundant pieces of plastic, from HMV, Game, WHSmith, Orange, etc in the back of a drawer.

20 Miles, Ron.. I could be in any four different counties by travelling 20 miles. We have a Waitrose right in the middle of our main shopping street- it's fab! Underground carpark ... so we can park( free) wander about town then pop into Waitrose on the way back, the downside about the card for me is - our Waitrose doesn't have a cafe so they don't do hot drinks, free or otherwise. Mum was dead impressed this morning, I said , would you like some of Prince Charles' eggs, oh yes... and some of his milk ( having previously told me she would only drink milk from a particular ( and jolly difficult to get hold of) local dairy... oh yes we'll have that. It must be proper milk if it' s Prince Charles' milk.... ...

I can't make use of the free coffee offer as my local Waitrose doesn't serve drinks.

However, I am a big fan of the myWaitrose card. Recently I was sent £25 worth of vouchers to use in store because I spent over (I think) £40 on 4 separate occasions in December. That was easy as I always shop there and do the same for my very elderly parents.

Now I am spending over £30 on 4 occasions before 12 Feb so I can receive £15 worth of vouchers.

If Waitrose is where you normally shop anyway, it costs nothing and is quite a welcome perk.
