We have Blue Water, Lakeside, Westfield London, Metro Centre Up in Newcastle and now another WestField is planned for Croydon.

Is there going to be any shops left to fill them as many well known stores are shutting, or are they going to be filled with specialist shops? I'm sure people want to eat and drink, buy Newspapers etc - so they will attract some jobs for those who have lost them since the demise of Woolies and HMV etc....

The answer is that we don't need 'Shopping Malls' anywhere in this country

What is wrong with the old Shopping Centres we used to have here for more than half a century

The whole 'Mall' thing is yet another alien American import exactly like Halloween and a whole host of other things I could mention which are contributing to the destruction of traditional British culture and I for one find it extremely irritating Evil or Very Mad

Think you'll find there are far more than the 2 you've quoted Mark. You've forgotten to mention the Trafford Centre..............I find the place rather depressing though.

I liked them at first but I can never find what I want or they don't have my size, hence I order online and only ever seem to return things to shops.

Shopping Centres are just a form of crowd control. Giant Hives for people. If you look at them from Space , they're like ant's nests or Bee Hives, lots of rows of people going up the up escalator and going down the down escalator , standing in line for coffee etc etc, it's all very organised. It's exactly how social insects live and perhaps how we would live if were being farmed. Perhaps we are. So think on, you don't want to be in the Metro Centre at harvest time.

Horrible places. I've had the misfortune to encounter Bluewater on several occasions, when I used to pick my daughter up after a day's work at Mothercare, when she held an occasional job there, while at Uni, a good few years ago.

Went to Lakeside once, as well. Most of the women had orange faces . It was like a land of Oompa Loompas.
