A fox has bitten off a 4 week old baby boy's finger. It got into the house through a damaged back door. Baby has had mico-surgery and finger is reattached. It's is a rare problem, but there is an increase of foxes entering urban areas and mixing with humans. There are over 30,000 foxes in the UK who roam streets and have been seen in daylight when they used to come out at night.

Perhaps if humans stopped destroying wildlife habitat, they wouldn't need to come into towns.

| Possibly a stupid question, but I read that police are investigating this fox attack on the 4 year old in Bromley. My question is why? What are they going to do, hunt down the fox and charge it with assault? |

I expect they need to rule out the possibility that the injury may have actualy been caused by a family pet, or a neighbour's pet, and someone may try to avoid prosecution. I think there has been a previous case where a fox was blamed for a pit-bull attack.

I heard someone mentioning this on LBC London. It does seem suspicious. There was a damaged back door where the alleged fox got in. How could someone tug and pull a fox as reported, it would run away. The family have since moved out of the council house. |

I don't think there is any major problem with foxes - but there is a problem with irresponsible parents who don't have the common sense to ensure that their infant's sleeping quarters are secure not just from foxes but also from all other manner of possible intruders
