Didn't know where to put this so I hope it's not out of place here....

I was looking on the Radio 2 website and saw a programme with Paul Gambaccini about the charts of the last 50 years and I thought I'd have a look....it was broadcast in Jan of this year and it wasn't available to listen to..not that I thought it would be after seeing the date but from that page I went to the Radio 2 Programmes A to Z page and there are lots and lots of other programmes listed (when you scroll down) there that have already been on that are not available ....what I am wondering is why do they list them on that page under ....

Available now & Coming soon
All Programme
1146 programmes

.....as when you click on lots of them it comes up

Sorry, this episode is not currently available (and they are not new programmes)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/programmes/a-z

Why don't they just delete them?

On the off-chance they'll be repeated in the future?

Yes,I had thought of that but if that is the case why don't they put the ones that can be listened to again first in the list instead of having them jumbled up?

You'd think the BBC would have a cubby- hole to put things in that are not wanted/needed at the present time.

This is all part of the plan to have as much radio history online as possible. At some future date you'll be able to go back decades and get online information about past radio programmes all digitally derived from old Radio Times listings. In the meantime BBC schedules for x number of years, together with the episodes data are all accessible.

See the BBC Genome project:

Of course in addition more audio archive material will be put online, see the recent Desert Island Discs and Letter from America programmes now available to listen again. There's also a prototype World Service audio archive that I've been checking out.

I wonder if the recent requests for old radio recordings will be included in that archive? It's amazing how much we can get online now. I can remember probably about 10 years ago that a lot of daily programmes would only be available for a day on the 'listen again' service as it was called.

Thank you for that,Andy ....I still think they could be tidier, though, with the layout. Twisted Evil
