By P.D James. It's a murder mystery written as a sequel to Pride and Prejudice and I'm really enjoying it. Elizabeth and Darcy have been married for six years and an army officer is killed in their woods. Naughty Wickham is somehow involved.

Last night I came across a passage which described how Wickham had been scratching a living. For a few months he had been secretary to an elderly gentleman, a Mr Elliot, who had a daughter Anne who had married a naval captain. This rang a bell and I realised that they were characters from Jane Austen's "Persuasion"!

I've got it in my pile of 'waiting to be read' Eileen, looking forward to reading it!

I finished it last night and near the end there is a reference to the Knightleys and also Harriet Smith and Robert Martin (the farmer she married) from "Emma"!

I was very disappointed with this book. I thought that the combination of P.D. James and Jane Austen would be a winner but to me the characters just didn't seem true to the originals.

The BBC is to make an adaptation of this and Dan Stevens is the favourite to play Darcy ....Eddie Redmayne, Hugh Dancy and Tom Hiddleston are also in the running.

I would be delighted to see Dan Stevens playing Darcy and my daughter would be delighted to see Eddie Redmayne playing him Very Happy although I can't see either of them matching Colin Firth. Didn't I hear that he is likely to make a cameo appearance?

I like Dan Stevens but he is too "pretty" for Darcy and would make a better Bingley. Eddie Redmayne wouldn't work for me as I think his mouth is wrong for Darcy. Don't know about the other two.

Matthew Rhys is to play Mr Darcy. There's an article about him in next week's Radio Times.

I approve of that choice. He has just the right sort of brooding look about him, although he had softened in the book after being happily married to Elizabeth for six years and having a couple of little sons.

He was terrific as the villainous John Jasper in TV's Edwin Drood.
